of fire that lit up their camp during the night. Therefore, the Egyptian and Jewish camps did not come near each other all that night. Moses did as God told him, and he stretched out his hand over the sea. The Lord caused the waters of the sea to move, with a mighty east wind, all night; He turned the bed of the sea into dry land and the waters split into twelve passageways, one for each tribe to pass through. The Children of Israel then came into the midst of the sea on dry land, and the waters were as a wall for them on their right and left sides. The Egyptians chased and came after them—every horse of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen—into the midst of the sea. So it was that in the last third of the night, just before morning, the Lord looked down upon the Egyptian camp with the intention of destroying them with the use of the pillars of fire and cloud, and He threw the Egyptian camp into a state of turmoil. Using the pillar of fire, He removed the wheels of their chariots by melting them, causing them to be led in their path with heaviness. The Egyptians all said, "I will run from the Children of Israel, for the Lord is fighting for them against all of us, Egyptians."

When the Jewish Nation crossed the sea, the Lord said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand once again over the sea, and the water shall return to its normal state upon the Egyptians, their chariots, and horsemen." And so Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and toward morning the sea returned to its normal state as the Egyptians were fleeing, not realizing that they were going straight toward it, and the Lord stirred the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. The waters returned and covered over all the chariots and horsemen—over the entire army of Pharaoh that was coming after them into the sea; not even one of them remained. However, the Children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were as a wall for them on their right and left sides. The Lord saved the Children of Israel on that day from the hands of the Egyptians, and the Children of Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the sea shore. They then realized that the Egyptians had not survived. The Children of Israel saw the great, strong hand that the Lord had used against the Egyptians. After seeing such amazing strength, the people feared the Lord. They believed in the Lord and everything that Moses, His servant, said.

Then, when the Jewish Nation saw the great miracle of the splitting of the Sea of Reeds, Moses and the Children of Israel sang this song to give thanks to the Lord, and they said as follows: I will sing to the Lord because He is very high; higher than any praise can describe. God threw both the Egyptian horse and its rider into the sea. The strength that God showed the Egyptians, and the revenge that He took on them, saved me. When God's glory was shown at the Sea of Reeds, the Jewish Nation pointed with their fingers and said: This is my God, and I will glorify Him. The God of my father, and I will exalt Him by telling the whole world about His might. The Lord is the Master of war; He will always win. Even when He is at war, He is known by the name "Lord," which expresses His kindness, since He is kind to His creations. He threw Pharaoh's heavy army chariots and his entire army into the sea. Even the best of Pharaoh's officers sank in the mud at the bottom of the Sea of Reeds, and the deep waters covered them. They went down quickly into the deepest parts of the sea like a stone. Lord, Your right hand is very strong. It is adorned with strength. Lord, Your right hand crushes the enemy and saves the Jewish Nation. With Your great majesty, You destroy those who rise up to fight against You or against the Jewish Nation, Your people. When You send Your anger toward Your enemies, it consumes them like straw being burned by fire. With the blast of wind from Your nostrils, the waters of the sea piled up, the flowing streams of water stood up straight like a wall, and the deep waters became hard in the heart of the sea. When the Jewish Nation left Egypt, their enemy, Pharaoh, said to the Egyptian army: I will chase them, I will catch up to them, and I will divide the possessions that I take from them and distribute them. I will fulfill my heart's desire by bringing them back to Egypt. I will take out my sword from its case, and I will destroy them with my hand. But when Pharaoh and the Egyptians tried to destroy the Jewish Nation, You blew with Your wind and the sea covered them. They sank quickly like heavy lead in the powerful waters. Who from among all the great and powerful creations is like You, Lord? Who is like You, God? You are adorned with holiness. The wonders that You do are so awesome that they cannot be sufficiently praised. You stretched out Your right hand, and the earth swallowed the Egyptians. With Your kindness, You led this nation that You redeemed. You gave the Jewish Nation a pillar of fire and clouds to lead them through the desert. You guided us with Your strength to the Holy Temple,
