The Lord spoke to Moses regarding the animals to be accepted as sacrifices, and instructed him to say the following to the Jewish Nation: When an ox or a sheep or a goat is born, it shall remain under its mother's care for at least seven days and may not be brought as an offering, and only from the eighth day onward, will it be accepted as a fire-offering to the Lord. You may not slaughter a female among the oxen, sheep, or any other animal on the same day as its male or female offspring. And when you slaughter an offering of thanksgiving to the Lord, you shall slaughter it with the intention that you will follow the laws regarding this sacrifice—that you eat it on that very day, so that it should be an appeasement for you. The thanksgiving sacrifice must be eaten on the very day it was slaughtered; you shall not leave any of it over until morning, or even intend to do so. I am the Lord, who knows a person's intentions. You shall preserve My commandments by studying them, so that you will do them properly; I am the Lord. Do not desecrate My Holy Name by intentionally not following My will. Keep My commandments even under oppression; when you do so, I will be sanctified among the Children of Israel. I am the Lord Who sanctifies you to be My holy nation; I am the Lord Who took you out of the land of Egypt to be your God on the condition that you will Sanctify Me by keeping My commandments; I am the Lord Who acts favorably to those who keep my will. The Lord spoke to Moses and instructed him to tell the Jewish Nation about the festivals, saying: Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: The Lord has set certain days to be festivals when you are commanded to pronounce them as days of holy gathering—festivals—and He tells you: The following are My designated days: Six days of the week work may be done, but the seventh day shall be a day of rest, it is a day of holy gathering. On this day you may not do any work, for it is a day of rest for the Lord. This applies in all your settlements, and at all times.

These are the Lord's additional designated festivals that are to be days of holy gathering, which you shall pronounce in their set times by calculating the new months: In the first month—Nissan—on the fourteenth of the month in the afternoon, offer a Pesach-offering to the Lord. Beginning on the night before the fifteenth day of this month is the Festival of Matzot for the Lord; for seven days you shall eat only unleavened Matzot or other foods that are unleavened. The first day of Pesach shall be a day of holy gathering for you; you may not do any work. And you shall bring a fire-offering to the Lord each day of Pesach. The seventh day shall also be a day of holy gathering; you may not do any work. The Lord spoke to Moses and instructed him to tell the Jewish Nation about the Omer offering, saying: Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: When you come to the Land of Israel, which I am giving you, and you reap its harvest, you shall bring the measure of an omer (approximately 2 kg/4.5 lb) from the first of the barley harvest to the Kohen who serves in the Temple. And the Kohen shall wave the Omer-offering of barley flour in all directions before the Lord to be an appeasement for you; the Kohen shall wave it on the day after the first rest day of Pesach—on the second day of Pesach. And on the same day that you wave the Omer-offering, you shall bring an unblemished lamb that is less than a year old as a burnt-offering to the Lord. For the lamb's flour-offering, bring two tenths of an eifah of fine wheat flour (approximately 4 kg/9 lb) mixed with olive oil as a pleasing fire-offering to the Lord, and bring a quarter of a hin (approx. 1 liter/quart) of wine for its wine offering. You may not eat from the new season's grain harvest, including bread, roasted grain, or fresh kernels, until this very day—the second day of Pesach; until you bring your God's Omer-offering. This shall be an everlasting law that applies for all your generations and in all your settlements.
