You shall remain in Jerusalem through the following night, and you may only turn to go home beginning on the morning of the sixteenth. Then, you may go back to your tent—your home—in the cities where you live. On the first day of Pesach, the matzot you eat should be made of grain from the old crop. However, for the next six days, from the second day of Pesach, when you bring the Omer-offering, you may eat matzot made of grain from the new crop; you shall not eat leavened bread all seven days of Pesach. On the first day of Pesach and then again on the seventh day, it shall be a day on which you cease to perform any work in honor of the Lord, your God; you shall not do any work.

You shall count weeks for yourself; beginning on the sixteenth of Nissan, when the sickle is first put to the standing crop, you shall begin to count seven weeks. At the conclusion of this seven week count, you shall celebrate the Festival of Shavuot for the Lord, your God; you shall bring as many peace-offerings as you can afford to give, in proportion to how much the Lord, your God, will have blessed you. You shall celebrate in Jerusalem—the place that the Lord, your God, will choose to rest His name there. HAFTARAH FOR SHEMINI ATZERET

The following is a continuation of the Haftarah of the second day of Sukkot and speaks about the inauguration of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and the blessings that King Solomon gave the people at the inauguration. The celebration continued until Shemini Atzeret, when the people blessed King Solomon and joyfully returned to their homes.
