Children of Israel—exactly as He spoke to them in the desert, when He said that He would grant them rest from all of their enemies. Not one thing of all His good word that He spoke and promised through Moses, His servant, fell short and was left unfulfilled. May the Lord be with us as He was with our fathers; may He not leave us or abandon us. We ask God to turn our hearts toward Him so that we will go in all of His ways and keep His commandments, His decrees, and His laws, which He commanded our fathers to do. May these words of mine, which I have pleaded before the Lord, be close to the Lord, our God, day and night, so that He will do what His servant needs and what His nation, the Children of Israel, needs, on each day, according to the needs of the day. May God do this in order that all the nations of the earth should know that the Lord is God; there is nothing else. May your hearts continue to be wholly with the Lord, our God, to follow His statutes and to keep His commandments just as you are wholly with God on this very day. King Solomon and all the Children of Israel who were gathered with him brought offerings before the Lord. These are the peace-offerings that Solomon offered to the Lord: twenty-two thousand oxen and one hundred and twenty thousand of the flock. With these offerings, King Solomon and all the Children of Israel inaugurated the Temple of the Lord. On that day King Solomon consecrated the floor inside the courtyard that is in front of the Temple of the Lord to serve as an altar, because he had to burn some parts of the burnt-offerings, the flour-offerings, and the sacrificial fats of the peace-offerings there, on that floor. This was because the sacrificial altar that was in front of the sanctuary of the Lord was too small to accommodate all the burnt-offerings, flour-offerings, and all the sacrificial fats of the many peace-offerings. King Solomon made the celebration of the inauguration at that time and all of the Children of Israel celebrated with him. It was a great gathering and included people from across the entire land; from Hamath in the north to the river of Egypt in the South. They all celebrated before the Lord, our God, for fourteen consecutive days—seven days for the inauguration of the Temple,

beginning on the eighth of Tishrei, and seven days for the Festival of Sukkot. On the eighth day, counting from the first day of Sukkot—on Shemini Atzeret, King Solomon sent the people home. They blessed the king and went to their tents, happy and with contented hearts for all the goodness that the Lord had done for David, His servant, by granting him a son who was worthy and righteous enough to build the Temple, and for all the goodness He did for His nation, the Children of Israel, by forgiving their sins.

SIMCHAT TORAH

The following speaks of the greatness of Moses and the blessings with which he blessed each tribe of Israel before his passing. This is also the conclusion of the five books of the Torah.

This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, blessed the Children of Israel shortly before his passing. Moses prefaced by saying: The Lord's revelation came from Sinai to greet the Jewish Nation at the giving of the Torah, and shone forth to them coming from Se'ir, where the descendants of Eisav did not want to accept the Torah. He also appeared first from Mount Paran, where the descendants of Ishmael did not accept the Torah, and He came with some of the myriads of the holy angels. From His right hand he gave the Tablets—a fiery Law for the Jewish Nation, and they accepted it joyfully. He also showed affection for each of the twelve tribes, which are considered as nations; all the holy souls of the righteous are in Your hand. They—the twelve tribes—are deserving of this affection, because they set themselves down at Your feet at Mount Sinai, and they took Your utterances—Your commandments—upon themselves with joy. This is what the Children of Israel say: The Torah that God gave and its commandments that Moses commanded to us, is a heritage for the entire congregation of Jacob—including converts—we have accepted it, and we will never abandon it. God is King over the Jewish Nation, which is called Jeshurun because it is a just nation. Whenever the entirety of each tribe, which is considered its own nation, is gathered together, and all the tribes of Israel are gathered in unity, they are worthy of blessing. Moses blessed each tribe with its own unique blessing. He began by saying: May Reuben's legacy live on and not die by not being welcome in the World to Come, and may his descendants be counted together with the rest of the Jewish Nation. This is the blessing for the tribe of Judah. Moses said: Listen, God, to the voice of the prayers of the kings who will descend from Judah when they will go to war, and may You bring back each one of his men safely to his people. May his hands be successful in combat, and may You, God, come to his aid against his enemies.

And about the tribe of Levi, he said: God, You gave Your Tumim and Your Urim, which gives Your instructions to the Jewish Nation, to Your devout man—the High Priest—who is from the tribe of Levi. The
