TORAH READINGS
The following discusses the daily communal offerings brought in the Holy Temple, as well as the additional offerings brought on Shabbat and on Rosh Chodesh (the first day of every month).

<b>The Lord spoke to Moses</b> and gave him instructions to tell the Jewish Nation about the communal sacrifices. <b>Command the Children of Israel and say to them: For My offering</b>—which is like <b>My food for My fires</b> on the altar, and <b>whose smell is pleasing to Me</b>—you should appoint Kohanim and Levites to take care to <b>offer it to Me at its proper time,</b> every morning and afternoon. <b>You should say to them: This is the fire-offering that you should offer to the Lord: Two lambs that are less than a year old and unblemished, offered each day as a daily burnt-offering</b> on the altar.

<b>This is the daily burnt-offering,</b> the way it was done when the Jewish Nation was next to <b>Mount Sinai</b> and built the Sanctuary. <b>It is a fire-offering</b> to make a pleasing smell <b>for the Lord. For its wine offering</b> bring a quarter of a hin of wine along with <b>the one lamb</b> being offered in the morning. <b>Pour this offering of strong wine for the Lord on</b> the holy <b>altar</b> in the Temple. <b>You shall prepare the second lamb to be offered in the late afternoon, and prepare the same</b> flour and <b>wine offerings as in the morning</b> to be offered along with the lamb. <b>It is a fire-offering,</b> which is offered <b>to make a</b> pleasing <b>smell for the Lord. <b>On your days of Rosh Chodesh,</b> the first day <b>of each month, you shall bring a burnt-offering to the Lord—two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs</b> that are <b>less than a year old;</b> they should be <b>unblemished. Bring three-tenths of an eifah of fine flour mixed with</b> olive oil as <b>a flour-offering for each bull, and two-tenths of</b> an eifah of <b>fine flour mixed with olive oil as a flour-offering for the one ram. One-tenth of an eifah of fine flour mixed with</b> olive oil <b>should be brought as a flour-offering for each</b> lamb. These <b>shall be a burnt-offering and a fire-offering,</b> offered to make <b>a pleasing smell for the Lord. Their wine offering shall be as follows: a half a hin of wine for each bull, a third of a hin for the ram, and a quarter of a hin for each lamb. This is the burnt-offering of each month,</b> to be offered only on its first day—if the first day has passed, it cannot be offered any other day of the month—<b>for the months of the year. PUBLIC FAST DAYS
When the Jews sinned by creating and worshiping the Golden Calf, God told Moses that He would annihilate the Jewish Nation and would begin a new nation from Moses himself. In the following reading, Moses prays on behalf of the Jewish Nation, and God, indeed, granted them forgiveness. This reading is appropriate for a fast day, on which we regret our misdeeds and ask God to forgive us.
