Remember our father Abraham, who followed You precisely, as water of a river follows a set path. You blessed him that he should be fruitful and have many descendants like a tree that is planted near streams of water. You protected him and rescued him from the fire of Nimrod’s furnace and from the Satan who tried to drown him in water on his way to the Binding of Isaac. You tested him when he planted trees next to any water that he could find in Canaan, even though there was a famine. Because of him, do not hold back water from us!

Remember our father Isaac, who was born after Abraham received the good news from the angels for whom he said, “Let some water be brought for them.” You told Isaac’s father, Abraham, to slaughter him and spill his blood like water. He was also careful to pour out his heart like water when praying to God. He dug and found wells of water. Because of his righteousness, be gracious to us and give us plenty of water!

Remember Jacob, who crossed the water of the Jordan River carrying only his stick. He made his heart believe in and want only one thing: God. He rolled a stone off the opening of a well of water so that he could draw water for Laban’s flock. He wrestled with Esau’s angel, who was a mixture of fire and water. Therefore, You promised to be with him and help him through fire and water. Because of him, do not hold back water from us!

Remember Moses, who was taken out from the water in Egypt in a basket made of reeds. The daughters of Jethro said about Moses, “He drew water for us from a well and he gave the sheep water to drink.” When Your treasured nation, the Jewish Nation, were thirsty for water, Moses hit the rock, and water came out. Because of his righteousness, be gracious to us and give us plenty of water!

Remember Aaron, the first High Priest in charge of the Holy Temple,<sup>1</sup> who dipped himself in the water of a ritual bath five times on Yom Kippur. He cleaned and washed his hands with holy water. He called out the order of the sprinkling of the blood. He sprinkled it, and the Jewish Nation became as pure as water. He distanced himself from the intentions of the rest of the nation, who were rushing like water to make the Golden Calf. Aaron meant to prevent it by delaying it. Because of him, do not hold back water from us!

Remember the twelve tribes of Israel, whom You brought across the split waters of the Sea of Reeds.
