not deserve it, God will lovingly redeem us for the sake of His name—so that everyone will recognize that He is a good and kind God. You are a King Who helps people do well, Who saves them when they need salvation, and Who is a shield that protects them from trouble.

Send rain in the merit of our forefathers

English

Af-Bri is the name given to the angel of rain. The job of this angel is to make the sky overcast, cover it with clouds, and empty the clouds, causing rain to fall. Rain is water that causes the vegetation to grow and crown the earth with greenery. Let the rain not be held back because of our unpaid debt—our sins. In the merit of the Patriarchs, who were faithful to You, protect the Children of Israel, who ask You for rain.1

Lord, You are strong and powerful forever. Only You have the power to bring the dead back to life. You use Your strength to save people.

English

May God burden Af-Bri to set aside rain from the waters of the sky to make the surface of the earth soft with its crystal-clear drops. God—in the Torah You called water “mighty,” just as You are called “mighty.” Water soothes with its drops those who have received a soul from God’s breath of life. It gives life to the Children of Israel, who mention the powers of rain.
