בְּדַעְתּוֹ With God’s permission, I will speak with this nation—the Jewish Nation—about hidden things to bring them joy through this prayer for dew. Dew brings joy to the earth and its greenery. They rejoice and are happy because of God’s dew; it is like a protective shade that covers them. Dew is a sign of youth, it protects the produce of the earth.

Bend knees at בָּרוּךְ; bow at אַתָּה; straighten up at יְיָ.

אַתָּה Lord, You are strong and powerful forever. Only You have the power to bring the dead back to life. You use Your strength to save people.

תְּהוֹמוֹת The depths of the earth, which is called God’s footstool, long for droplets of dew; all the grassy fields long for it. By mention of dew, we add to our praise of God’s might; it was instituted to be said in the prayer of Musaf. When the Redemption arrives, God will use dew to bring those who are buried in the cracks of rocks back to life.

The first paragraph below is said by the chazzan followed by the congregation; subsequent paragraphs are said by the congregation followed by the chazzan.

טַל give dew1 to please Your land—the Land of Israel. With Your joy, establish us to receive Your blessings by giving us plenty of grain and wine. Re-establish Jerusalem, the city in which You take delight, with dew.

טַל Command the dew to come down so that we will have a good year—a year crowned with blessing. May the fruit of the earth be glorious and beautiful. Let Your hand turn the city of Jerusalem, which is now empty like a hut, into a crown, with dew.

טַל Give sweet dew to the land that is blessed—the Land of Israel. Satisfy us with the blessing of the precious dew that comes from heaven. Shine Your light from within the darkness onto the Jewish Nation, which is drawn close to You, with dew.

טַל Let the dew sweeten like honey the produce that grows on our mountains. Let Your chosen nation, the Jewish Nation, enjoy the taste of Your goodness. Free us, Your beloved ones, from exile. We will then raise our voices and sing sweet songs, with dew.

טַל With dew You bless our food. Let there be no shortage of our large amount of food. Please fulfill the wishes of the Jewish Nation, the nation that You have led like sheep, with dew.
