וְרוֹמַמְתָּנוּ מִכָּל הַלְּשׁוֹנוֹת,
וְקִדַּשְׁתָּנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתֶיךָ, וְקֵרַבְתָּנוּ

English

You, God, created Your world long ago. You finished Your work by Shabbat, the seventh day. You loved us and You desired us. You raised us above all the other languages and nations. You made us holy through Your commandments. You, our King, brought us close by choosing us to serve You, and You called us by Your great and holy name. You called us the “nation of God.”

During exile, we are unable to serve God properly

English

You, Lord, our God, lovingly gave us Shabbat days for resting and Rosh Chodesh days for forgiveness of our sins. Because of the fact that we and our ancestors sinned before You,1 our city Jerusalem has been destroyed, our Holy Temple has been left in ruins, our glory has been exiled, and honor has been taken away from the House of our life, the Land of Israel. Because of this, we are unable to fulfill our obligations in Your chosen House, the Holy Temple—in the great and holy House, which is called the “House of God” and is known by Your name. This happened because of the hand of our enemy, which was sent to destroy Your Holy Temple.

May it be Your will, Lord, our God and the God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, that You should bring us up with joy to our land—the Land of Israel—and that You should plant us securely within our borders. There we will prepare for You the offerings that we are obligated to bring: the daily burnt-offerings according to their order written in the Torah, and the Musaf offerings according to their laws. We will lovingly prepare and offer to You the Musaf offerings of this Shabbat day and of this Rosh Chodesh day according to the instructions You want us to follow, as You have written for us in Your Torah through Moses, Your servant, who repeated the words in Your glorious Name.

English

As it says in the Torah: The following offering should be brought on the Shabbat day: two lambs that are less than a year old and unblemished, two-tenths of an eifah of fine flour mixed with oil as a flour-offering, and its wine offering. That is the burnt-offering for Shabbat, to be offered every Shabbat. All of the above is to be offered in addition to the daily burnt-offering and its wine offering.

English

On your days of Rosh Chodesh, you should bring a burnt-offering to the Lord—two young bulls, one ram, and seven lambs that are less than a year old; they should be unblemished.
