After they won the war, Your children, the Jewish Nation, entered the Holy Temple, cleaned out the idols that the Syrian-Greeks had put in Your Sanctuary, and purified Your Holy Temple. They lit candles of celebration in and around the courtyards of Your Holy Temple, and they instituted these eight days of Chanukah to give thanks and praise to Your great name.

And because of all the things You do for us, God, our King, may Your name always be blessed, exalted, and raised forever and ever.

Decree a good year for us

Write down for a good life all of the Children of Israel, the nation that accepted Your Covenant—the Torah and its commandments.

And all living things will thank You forever, and they will praise Your great name forever, because You are good. You are the God Who is our everlasting salvation and help; You are the good God. Blessed are You, Lord—You have a good name and reputation, and it is appropriate to give You thanks.

English
God, place peace, goodness, blessing, life, graciousness, kindness, and mercy on us and on all of the Children of Israel, Your nation. God, our Father, bless all of us together as one<sup>1</sup> with the light of Your shining face. For with the light of Your shining face, Lord, our God, You gave us the Torah of life, loving-kindness, righteousness, blessing, mercy, life, and peace. May it be a good thing in Your eyes to bless Your nation, the Children of Israel, with Your peace at all times and at every moment.

My God, guard my tongue from saying bad things, and prevent my lips from speaking dishonestly. Let my soul be quiet and ignore those who curse me; let my soul be as humble as dust before everyone.
