The Blessing over Tzitzit
Each morning inspect your tzitzit so they are neither torn nor knotted, and disentangle any strings that have become snarled.
Refrain from saying the blessing that follows if you intend to don a tallit (prayer shawl) at Shacharit.
Stand as you recite this blessing, grasping the tzitzit with your right hand (or, being left-handed, with your left hand). Once the blessing is complete, kiss the tzitzit and let them go.
On Tishah B'av, recitation of this blessing precedes Minchah.

Donning the Tallit
Chabad practice is to don the tallit and tefillin at אֵיזֶהוּ מְקוֹמָן, page 50
Chabad practice is to wear a tallit solely after one has married.
On Tishah B'av, one wears the tallit and tefillin at Minchah rather than at Shacharit.
Prior to unfolding the tallit, drape it across your right shoulder so the tzitzit hang before you.
Recite what follows as you inspect the tzitzit so they are neither torn nor knotted, and disentangle any strings that have become snarled.

Spread open the tallit and hold it above your head and torso.
As soon as you finish the blessing that follows, enwrap yourself in the tallit.
Bear in mind that God enjoined us to enwrap ourselves in the tallit so we may remember to fulfill all of His commandments.

Donning the Tefillin
It is Chabad custom to don the tallit and tefillin at אֵיזֶהוּ מְקוֹמָן, page 50.
See page 955 for illustrated directions.
Tefillin are omitted on Shabbat, festivals, and Chol Hamoed. On Tishah B'av, the tallit and tefillin are donned at Minchah in place of Shacharit.
Remain standing as you don tefillin.
Bear in mind that the tefillin hold passages of the Torah depicting God's Oneness and the Exodus from Egypt and that God enjoined us to wear them so we may recall His miracles, which demonstrate that He is One and all-powerful.
Further, bear in mind that we are bidden to wear the tefillin upon the arm beside the heart, and upon the head, matching the soul (which resides in the mind), so we may devote our heart and soul to God. Thereby we shall remember God and lessen bodily pleasures.
Set the hand-tefillin upon the biceps of the left arm (or of the right arm, should you be left-handed), close to the heart. While keeping it in position, prior to tightening the strap, recite the blessing that follows. (Intend that the blessing also covers the head-tefillin.)
