Ps. 129

A song of ascents. Often since I was young I have been attacked – let Israel now say – often since I was young I have been attacked, but never have my attackers prevailed. Plowmen plowed across my back, making long furrows. But the LORD is just; He has cut the bonds of the wicked. Let all who hate Zion be driven back in shame. Let them be like the grass on roofs that fades before it can be pulled up. It will never fill a reaper’s hand nor yield an armful for the gatherer of sheaves. No passersby will say to them: “The LORD’s blessing be upon you. We bless you in the name of the LORD.”
Ps. 130

A song of ascents. From the depths I have called to You, O LORD. LORD, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to my plea. If You, LORD, should keep account of sins, O LORD, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be held in awe. I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope. My soul waits for the LORD more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. Israel, put your hope in the LORD, for with the LORD there is loving-kindness, and great is His power to redeem. It is He who will redeem Israel from all their sins.
Ps. 131

A song of ascents. By David. LORD, my heart is not proud, nor are my eyes haughty. I do not busy myself with great affairs or with things beyond me. But I have made my soul still and quiet, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. Israel, put your hope in the LORD, now and forevermore.
Ps. 132

A song of ascents. LORD, remember David and all the hardship he endured. He swore an oath to the LORD and made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob: “I will not enter my house, nor go to bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids, until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” We heard of it in Efrat, we found it in the fields
