behind them. They were very much afraid - and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. They said to Moses, "Does Egypt lack graves, that you have brought us to die in the desert? What have you done to us, bringing us out of Egypt? Is this not exactly what we told you when we were still there - 'Leave us be, just let us serve Egypt, for it is better for us to serve Egypt than to die in the desert!'" But Moses said to the people, "Do not fear. Stand here and witness the salvation that the LORD will perform for you today; for as you see the Egyptians today, you will not see them again as long as you live. The LORD will wage war for you, and you need only remain silent."
Revi'i (Shabbat: Shishi)

The LORD said to Moses, "Why do you cry out to Me? Tell the children of Israel that they must depart. And as for you - raise your staff and stretch your hand out over the sea and divide it, so that the children of Israel may come through the sea on dry land. And I - I shall make the hearts of Egypt bold and they will enter in after them, and I will be glorified through Pharaoh and all of his hosts, his chariots and horsemen; the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I am glorified through Pharaoh and all of his hosts, his chariots and horsemen. So the angel of God who walked before the Israelite camp departed and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud departed from in front of them and came to rest behind. And they came between the camp of Egypt and the camp of Israel; and when cloud and darkness came, the night was lit up - and one camp did not come near the other all that night. Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the LORD moved the sea with a strong easterly wind all that night; it turned the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided. So the children of Israel walked into the midst of the sea on dry land, and the water was like a wall for them on their right and on their left. The Egyptians pursued them, entering in after them, all the horses of Pharaoh, his chariots and horsemen, into the sea. And when the morning watch arrived, the LORD looked upon the Egyptian camp in a pillar of cloud and fire, and threw the Egyptian camp into confusion. The wheels of their chariots were unfastened and drove with difficulty. "Let us escape from Israel," said the Egyptians, "for the LORD is waging war for them against Egypt!"
