Man and beast – body, spirit and soul – muscle, bone, skin – likeness and image woven – glory reduced to mere breath – likened to beasts that fall silent – light and beauty and stature – renew the face of the land – planting trees on desolate ground – winepress and bounty of meadows – vineyard and sycamore fig – bring to the land renowned – mighty rain to scent spices – to recover a devastated place – to raise up the shrub – to make the delightful fruits robust – to make the land glorious with flowers – to soak the plants with rain – to make cool waters flow – to fill out the raindrops – to raise up the earth – the earth that is hung over nothingness – Save us, please.
