Happy is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the wicked, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the seat of scorners. 2 But his delight is in the Torah of the Lord, and in His Torah he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree planted by streams of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, and whose leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does he shall prosper. 4 Not so the wicked; rather, they are like the chaff that the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

Why do nations rage, and peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand, and rulers conspire together, against the Lord and against His anointed: 3 Let us break their bonds asunder, and cast away their cords from us. 4 He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 Then He will speak to them in His anger, and terrify them in His wrath: 6 But I have set My king upon Zion, My holy mountain. 7 I will declare the decree: the Lord said to me, You are My son; today I have begotten you. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give the nations as your inheritance, and the ends of the earth as your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. 10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise; be instructed, O judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the son, lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for His wrath is kindled but a little. Happy are all who take refuge in Him.

A psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. 2 Lord, how many are my foes; many rise up against me. 3 Many say of my soul, There is no salvation for him in God. Selah. 4 But You, Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head. 5 I cry aloud to the Lord, and He answers me from His holy mountain. Selah. 6 I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustains me. 7 I will not fear the myriads of people who have set themselves against me all around. 8 Arise, Lord; save me, my God; for You have struck all my enemies on the cheek; You have broken the teeth of the wicked. 9 Salvation belongs to the Lord; Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah.

For the conductor, with stringed instruments. A psalm of David. 2 When I call, answer me, O God of my righteousness; in distress You have relieved me; be gracious to me and hear my prayer. 3 O sons of men, how long will my glory be turned into shame? How long will you love vanity and seek falsehood? Selah. 4 Know that the Lord has set apart the devout one for Himself; the Lord will hear when I call to Him. 5 Tremble, and do not sin; commune with your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. 6 Offer sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord. 7 Many say, Who will show us good? Lift up the light of Your countenance upon us, O Lord. 8 You have put joy in my heart, more than in the time that their grain and their wine increased. 9 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

For the conductor, upon the nechilot. A psalm of David. 2 Give ear to my words, O Lord; consider my meditation. 3 Hearken to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray. 4 Lord, in the morning You shall hear my voice; in the morning I will arrange my prayer to You, and will look up. 5 For You are not a God who desires wickedness; evil shall not dwell with You. 6 The arrogant shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all workers of iniquity. 7 You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; the Lord abhors the man of blood and deceit. 8 But as for me, in the abundance of Your kindness I will enter Your house; I will bow down toward Your holy temple in fear of You. 9 Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness, because of my watchful foes; make Your way straight before me. 10 For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their inward part is destruction; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue. 11 Condemn them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against You. 12 But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them forever shout for joy, and may You shelter them; and let those who love Your name exult in You. 13 For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You encompass him with favor as with a shield.

For the conductor, with stringed instruments, upon the sheminit. A psalm of David. 2 Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger, nor chasten me in Your wrath. 3 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am feeble; heal me, O Lord, for my bones are dismayed. 4 My soul also is greatly dismayed; but You, O Lord—how long? 5 Return, O Lord, deliver my soul; save me for the sake of Your kindness. 6 For in death there is no remembrance of You; in Sheol who will give You thanks? 7 I am weary with my sighing; every night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. 8 My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows old because of all my adversaries. 9 Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. 10 The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer. 11 All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly dismayed; they shall turn back, they shall be ashamed in a moment.

A shiggaion of David, which he sang to the Lord, concerning the words of Cush a Benjamite. 2 Lord my God, in You I take refuge; save me from all who pursue me, and deliver me, 3 lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, with none to deliver. 4 Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands, 5 if I have repaid my friend with evil, or plundered my adversary without cause, 6 let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it, and trample my life to the ground, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah. 7 Arise, O Lord, in Your anger; lift Yourself up against the rage of my adversaries, and awake for me; You have commanded judgment. 8 Let the assembly of the peoples surround You, and over it return on high. 9 The Lord judges the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity within me. 10 Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; for the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. 11 My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. 12 God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. 13 If a man does not turn back, He will whet His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready. 14 He has also prepared for Himself instruments of death; He makes His arrows fiery shafts. 15 Behold, he travails with iniquity, and has conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. 16 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, and has fallen into the ditch which he made. 17 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own crown. 18 I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

For the conductor, upon the gittit. A psalm of David. 2 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth, You who have set Your glory upon the heavens. 3 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have founded strength, because of Your adversaries, to still the enemy and the avenger. 4 When I behold Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars which You have established, 5 what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him? 6 Yet You have made him little less than the angels, and have crowned him with glory and honor. 7 You have made him ruler over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet: 8 sheep and oxen, all of them, and also the beasts of the field, 9 the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes through the paths of the seas. 10 Lord, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth.

For the conductor, upon mut labben. A psalm of David. 2 I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart; I will recount all Your wonders. 3 I will be glad and exult in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. 4 When my enemies turn back, they shall stumble and perish before You. 5 For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat upon the throne judging righteously. 6 You have rebuked the nations, You have destroyed the wicked; You have blotted out their name forever and ever. 7 The enemy are come to an end, in perpetual ruins; and the cities which You have uprooted, their very memory has perished. 8 But the Lord sits enthroned forever; He has established His throne for judgment. 9 And He will judge the world in righteousness; He will minister judgment to the peoples with equity. 10 The Lord also will be a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. 11 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. 12 Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion; declare among the peoples His deeds. 13 For He who avenges blood remembers them; He does not forget the cry of the humble. 14 Be gracious to me, O Lord; see my affliction from those who hate me, You who lift me up from the gates of death, 15 that I may recount all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion, that I may rejoice in Your salvation. 16 The nations have sunk in the pit that they made; in the net which they hid, their own foot has been caught. 17 The Lord has made Himself known; He has executed judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah. 18 The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God. 19 For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever. 20 Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail; let the nations be judged in Your presence. 21 Put them in fear, O Lord; let the nations know they are but men. Selah.

Why, O Lord, do You stand afar off? Why do You hide Yourself in times of trouble? 2 In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; they are caught in the schemes that they have devised. 3 For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and the covetous renounces, yes, spurns the Lord. 4 The wicked, in the haughtiness of his countenance, does not seek Him; all his thoughts are, There is no God. 5 His ways prosper at all times; Your judgments are far above out of his sight; as for all his adversaries, he snorts at them. 6 He says in his heart, I shall not be moved; throughout all generations I shall not be in adversity. 7 His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. 8 He sits in the lurking places of the villages; in the secret places he murders the innocent; his eyes are stealthily set against the helpless. 9 He lies in wait in a secret place as a lion in his den; he lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor when he draws him into his net. 10 He crouches, he bows down, and the helpless fall by his mighty ones. 11 He says in his heart, God has forgotten; He hides His face; He will never see. 12 Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up Your hand; forget not the humble. 13 Why
