God, King Who sits upon the throne of mercy, and acts with lovingkindness, Who pardons the iniquities of His people, removing them one by one, Who abounds in forgiveness for sinners and pardon for transgressors, Who performs acts of righteousness with all flesh and spirit—not according to their wickedness does He requite them. God, You taught us to recite the Thirteen Attributes; remember for us today the covenant of the Thirteen Attributes, as You made known to the humble one of old, as it is written: And the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and He proclaimed the Name of the Lord:

The following, until וְנַחַלְתָּנוּ, is recited only when praying with a minyan.

And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed: Lord, Lord, God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in kindness and truth; Preserver of kindness for thousands, Forgiver of iniquity, transgression and sin, and Who cleanses. And You will forgive our iniquity and our sin, and take us for Your inheritance:

Gently strike the left side of your chest (over the heart) with a closed fist at the words חָטָאנוּ and פָּשַׁעְנוּ.

For with the Lord is kindness, and with Him is abundant redemption. Redeem, O God, Israel from all its troubles. And He will redeem Israel from all its iniquities. The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none who take refuge in Him shall be held guilty:

As a father has compassion on children, so may You, Lord, have compassion on us. Salvation is the Lord's; upon Your people is Your blessing, forever. Incline Your ear, my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city upon which Your Name is called. For it is not on account of our righteous deeds that we cast our supplications before You, but on account of Your abundant mercies. Lord, hear; Lord, forgive; Lord, hearken and act—do not delay—for Your own sake, my God, for Your Name is called upon Your city and upon Your people:

I was enraged on the ninth of it in shame and disgrace; the mantle of glory and beauty was darkened from upon me; torn to pieces on it was he who gave beautiful sayings—he is Ezra the Scribe:
