streets and completely flattened them. You rescued me from those of my own nation who fought me—such as King Saul and others. Furthermore, You protected me and placed me as the leader over all the nations, so that even the far away nations, of whose existence I do not know, will serve me. Foreign nations will lie to me and pretend to be loyal because they fear me. Because of my renown, they will fear me even when I am not present and they will obey me. Foreign nations will wilt before me, and they will be made lame from their suffering while they are imprisoned. The Lord is everlasting, and blessed is God, my Rock; exalted is God, Rock of my salvation. You are the God Who exacts retribution against my enemies on my behalf and subdues nations under my rule; You are the God Who rescues me from my hidden enemies, and You lift me victoriously over my overt adversaries; You save me from corrupt men. Therefore, I will give thanks to You, Lord, and make Your greatness known among the nations, and I will sing praises to Your name. God is a tower of salvation for David, His king. He does kindness to His anointed one—to David—and He will act kindly to his descendants forever.
