The Lord spoke to Moses and instructed him to tell the Jewish Nation about the Omer offering, saying: Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them: When you come to the Land of Israel, which I am giving you, and you reap its harvest, you shall bring the measure of an omer (approximately 2 kg/4.5 lb) from the first of your barley harvest to the Kohen who serves in the Temple. And the Kohen shall wave the Omer-offering of barley flour in all directions before the Lord to be an appeasement for you; the Kohen shall wave it on the day after the first rest-day of Pesach—on the second day of Pesach. And on the same day that you wave the Omer-offering, you shall bring an unblemished lamb that is less than a year old as a burnt-offering to the Lord. For the lamb's flour-offering, bring two tenths of an eifah of fine wheat flour (approximately 4 kg/9 lb) mixed with olive oil as a pleasing fire-offering to the Lord, and bring a quarter of a hin (approx. 1 liter/1 quart) of wine for its wine offering. You may not eat from the new season's grain harvest, including bread, roasted grain, or fresh kernels, until this very day—the second day of Pesach; until you bring your God's Omer-offering. after the seventh complete week, that is, until the fiftieth day, which is the festival of Shavuot. On the fiftieth day, you shall bring from the new wheat harvest a flour-offering to the Lord. From the wheat that grew in your settled places in the Land of Israel, you shall make two loaves of bread from wheat that has been raised above the rest of the crop and bring them as an offering. They shall be made of two tenths of an eifah (approx. 4 kg/9 lb) of fine wheat flour, and they shall be baked into leavened bread. This shall be the first flour-offering for the Lord from the new wheat harvest. Together with the two loaves of bread, you should offer seven unblemished lambs that are less than a year old, one young bull, and two rams. Each of them shall be a burnt-offering to the Lord; they shall all be offered along with their prescribed flour-offerings and wine offerings as a pleasing fire-offering to the Lord. In addition, on Shavuot you should offer one male goat as a sin-offering and two unblemished lambs that are less than a year old as a peace-offering to God. And the Kohen shall wave the above mentioned two lambs along with the first bread offering—the two loaves—as a waved offering before the Lord. They shall be holy to the Lord and given to the Kohen to eat. And you shall call this very day, the fiftieth day from the day of the Omer-offering, a day of holy gathering for you—the Festival of Shavuot. You may not do any work. This shall be an everlasting law that applies throughout all your settlements, even outside the Land of Israel, and for all your future generations. When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not completely remove the crop of the corner of your field while harvesting, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest that have fallen from your hand. Rather, you shall leave them for the poor people and for the convert who has no family to support him. I am the Lord, your God, who rewards those who fulfill My commandments.
