הוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ Save us, Lord, our God. Gather us together from among all the nations across the world, so that we can give thanks to Your holy name and be glorified by praising You. When we praise You, we become glorious, because other nations see that we are Your nation. We should praise God by saying, "The Lord, the God of the Children of Israel, is blessed forever, from this world to the next world."1 All the people should say, "Amen," showing that they agree with everything that was just said. Praise the Lord! All creations that have a soul should praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!

לַמְנַצֵּחַ The following is a song composed for the choirmaster of the Levites, to be sung together with instruments in the Holy Temple: May God be gracious to us and bless us. May His face shine on us and make us successful in everything we do, forever. God, may You do this in order to let people on earth know Your ways and know that You are gracious to those who believe in You, and so that all nations will know that You save the Jewish Nation. are gracious to everyone. All nations will praise You—because the earth has given its produce, and for all the blessings that You, God, our God, will bless us. God will bless us because of our trust in Him. All nations—including those in the farthest corners of the earth—will fear Him. They will realize that only those who fear God are blessed.

לְשֵׁם I will now pray in order to unite the Holy One, blessed be He, together with His Divine Presence, in order to unite the name Yud Kay with Vav Kay. By uniting Yud Kay and Vav Kay, I arrange God's name in perfect unity, and I do this in the name of all the Children of Israel.

בָּרוּךְ Blessed is God, Who created the universe through speech; God spoke, and the universe came into being.2 He is blessed. Blessed is God, Who says what He will do and does it. Blessed is God, Who makes decrees and fulfills them. Blessed is God, Who creates the universe. Blessed is God, Who has mercy on the earth. Blessed is God, Who has mercy on the creations of the earth. Blessed is God, Who gives good rewards to those who fear Him. Blessed is God, Who lives and exists forever and ever. Blessed is God, Who redeems and saves. God's name is blessed. Blessed are You, Lord, our God, King of the universe, the caring God, the merciful Father, Who cares for the Jewish Nation as a father to his child. God is praised by the mouth of His nation. He is praised and glorified through the praises that come from the tongues of the Children of Israel,

Commentary

1 Literally, "from the world, until the world." God is "blessed" throughout the entire universe—from the hidden spiritual world on high, all the way down to the revealed physical world below. The Hebrew term for "blessed" (בָּרוּךְ) can also be translated as "drawn down." It is our task to draw down Godliness from the spiritual world until it is revealed in this physical world, "from the world, until the world," by refining ourselves and dedicating ourselves to God.

2 Whereas a human being must actively involve himself in order to create something, the creative power of God is so great that He simply needed to speak in order for the entire universe to come into being—as if by itself, without any active involvement. We therefore thank and praise God not only for creating the world, but also for the wondrous manner in which He did so.
