Take three steps backward, bowing forward as you do so. While saying עֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בִּמְרוֹמָיו, bow leftward; while saying הוּא, bow forward; while saying יַעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם עָלֵינוּ, bow rightward; and while saying וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְאִמְרוּ אָמֵן, bow forward once more.

Here the silent Amidah concludes.

When a minyan is present, the chazzan repeats the Amidah, beginning on page 572. Congregants ought to attend carefully to the chazzan and answer אָמֵן after every blessing. It is likewise customary to answer בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּבָרוּךְ שְׁמוֹ whenever the chazzan recites בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה.

Once the Amidah has been repeated, the chazzan recites Complete Kaddish, page 959, then אֵין כֵּאלֹהֵינוּ and קווה, page 424.

PRIESTLY BENEDICTION

Before reciting the Priestly Blessing, the Kohanim are required to have their hands washed, ideally by a Levite.

Before the chazzan starts the paragraph of רְצֵה during the Amidah's repetition, the Kohanim ought to start advancing toward the synagogue's front, where they will recite their blessing. Whoever failed to begin approaching by that moment must not approach at all.

Before they recite the blessing, the Kohanim must take off their shoes. While doing so, they should refrain from touching their shoes once their hands have been washed.

Once the congregation has recited Modim together with the chazzan, the Kohanim recite the following:

Let not our personal failings impair our blessings

During the priestly blessing one should not gaze upon the Kohanim. Hence it is customary to veil one's face with a tallit for the blessing's duration.

Facing the Ark, the Kohanim then turn toward the congregants and recite the following blessing:

This blessing must be bestowed face-to-face; hence one should turn toward the Kohanim (yet not gaze at them directly) and attend closely to their blessing. To be included in their blessing, one must stand before or beside the Kohanim; those stationed behind the Kohanim are excluded.

As the Kohanim recite their blessing, congregants customarily turn their heads slightly in this sequence: יְבָרֶכְךָ – looking ahead; יְהֹוָה – rightward; וְיִשְׁמְרֶךָ – ahead; יָאֵר – leftward; יְהֹוָה – ahead; פָּנָיו – rightward; and so forth, (word by word—ahead, right, ahead, left, etc.,) ending with שָׁלוֹם looking ahead.

Once the chazzan calls out every word of the blessing below, the Kohanim repeat after him. Once the Kohanim finish each verse, the congregants answer אָמֵן as shown.
