of His commandments, even if you might -lose money. These words of Torah, which I command you to do today and every day, should always be new and fresh to you, and they should be engraved on your heart; you should always be thinking about them. You should teach Torah to your children and students until they know it well enough to answer any question about it. You should be involved in the words of Torah and speak them whenever you can: when you sit in your house, when you go on the way, when you lie down at night, and when you get up in the morning. These words, the words of Shema, should be written in tefillin. You should tie the hand-tefillin on your arm as a sign to remember God, and the head-tefillin should be put on your head, above the area between your eyes. You should write these words of the Shema on mezuzot, which you should put up on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

The Lord should be recognized as the One true God

You are the Lord, the God Who rules over heaven, earth, and the highest heavens. You were truly the first in existence, even before the universe was created, and You will be the last to exist. There is no other god besides You. Gather together those of the Jewish Nation who hope for Your help and are scattered across the world. Bring them from the four corners of the earth to the Land of Israel. Let all the people in the world recognize and know that You are the only God, Who rules over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything that is inside them. Which one of Your creations in the higher or lower worlds can say to You, "What are You doing?" or "What are You making?" No one can question why You do things, because no one understands Your ways. Our Father in heaven, Who lives forever, act graciously and kindly with us, even if we don't deserve it, because of Your great, strong, and awesome name, by which we are called and known. Be kind to us so that all nations will see that You are indeed a great, strong, and awesome God. Lord, our God, fulfill the promise You made to us through Zephaniah, Your prophet, as it is written in the verse: At the time of the Redemption, I will bring you back to the Land of Israel, and at that time I will gather you together. I will make you famous and praised by all the nations of the world when I return all your captives; when I bring them out of exile to the Land of Israel in front of your eyes. So said the Lord.
