To any person who lives in the shelter of God above—who learns the secrets of the Torah and is protected in the shadow of the Almighty—I say the following about the Lord, Who protects me and strengthens me, about my God, in Whom I trust: He will save you from being caught in traps and from destructive plagues. He will cover you and protect You with His wings, and you will take shelter under His wings. The truth of God's promise—that He will take care of you—will protect you like a shield and armor. If you trust in Him, you will not be afraid of the terror of the night. You will not be afraid of an arrow flying during the day. You will not be afraid of a plague that goes around in the darkness of night, nor of a plague that goes around in the afternoon. Even if plagues cause a thousand people on your left side and ten thousand on your right side to fall down and die, it will not reach you. Just look with your eyes, and you will see that the wicked people are being punished. This will happen because you said, "You, Lord, are my shelter," and you made God, the Most High, as your shelter. Nothing bad will happen to you, and no plague will come near your tent, because God will command His angels on your behalf to guard you in all your ways. The angels will carry you in their hands, lest you hurt your foot on a rock. You will step on lions and snakes; you will trample on young lions and snakes without being hurt. God says, "I will save a person because he wants Me, and I will strengthen him because he knows My great name and fears Me. When he calls out to Me, I will save him. I am together with him in times of trouble. I will deliver him from his troubles and honor him. I will satisfy him by giving him long life, and I will show him My salvation."
