the throne and rulership of King David, Your servant. Rebuild it soon in our days as an everlasting building.

Lord, our God, comfort the Children of Israel, who mourn for Zion and who mourn for Jerusalem; comfort the city of Jerusalem, which is in mourning and in ruins, disgraced and empty. Jerusalem is in mourning because her children are not there; they have been sent into exile. She is in ruins because her homes have been destroyed, she is disgraced because she no longer has her glory, and she is empty of her inhabitants. The city of Jerusalem sits with her head covered in misery, like a barren woman who never gave birth. The armies of her enemies have devoured and destroyed her, and nations that serve false gods have conquered her: They threw Your nation, the Children of Israel, to the sword, and purposely and cruelly killed the servants of God, Who is high. Therefore, Zion cries bitterly and Jerusalem raises her voice. Oh my heart, my heart is pained and mourns for the Jews of Jerusalem who were killed. Oh my insides, my insides hurt and mourn for the Jews of Jerusalem who were killed. For You, Lord, destroyed Jerusalem with fire, and You will rebuild her with fire, as the prophet Zechariah said: The Lord says, "I will be like a wall of fire that surrounds Jerusalem and protects her; I will rest My Divine Presence in her, and it will be her glory." Blessed are You, Lord, Who comforts Zion and rebuilds Jerusalem.

English

May You quickly cause Mashiach, who is the descendant of Your servant King David, to sprout forth and redeem us from exile; increase his strength through Your salvation, for we hope and pray for Your salvation all day. Blessed are You, Lord, Who causes the power of salvation to flourish.

Lord, our God, hear our voice as we pray to You; Merciful Father, have mercy on us and accept our prayers with mercy and good will, because You are a God Who hears and accepts prayers and requests. Do not turn us away from You empty-handed, Lord, our King; fulfill our requests,

Answer us, Lord. Please answer us on our fast day, because we are in a time of great difficulty. Do not turn to look at our wickedness and our sins; do not hide Your face from us, and do not ignore our requests. Please come close to us, and listen to our cries, and please give us Your kindness so that we will be comforted. Answer us even before we call out to You, as it is said in Isaiah: And it will be that even before they call out to Me, I will answer them; while they are still saying words of prayer, I will listen to them and help them. We turn to You, because You, Lord, are the One Who answers us and helps us in our difficult times, and Who redeems us and rescues us during all the difficult and hard times,

Lord, our God, may You continue to want the Children of Israel as Your nation and pay attention to their prayer.1 Return the service (offerings) to the Holy Temple, Your home. Accept with love and good will the fire offerings and prayer of the Children of Israel. May the service of Your nation, the Children of Israel, always find favor.
