AMIDAH FOR PESACH, SHAVUOT AND SUKKOT AT MAARIV, SHACHARIT AND MINCHAH
While at prayer, attend to the meaning of the words. Bear in mind that you stand before the Divine Presence. Put aside any distracting thoughts, so the mind remains focused on prayer. Before the Amidah begins, take three steps back, then three steps forward. Say the Amidah quietly—but audibly—standing with feet together. Through the whole Amidah, ending on page 337, interruptions of any kind are forbidden. Laws concerning the festival Amidah appear on page 608.

In winter (beginning at Musaf of Shemini Atzeret and continuing to Shacharit of Pesach's first day), say מַשִּׁיב הָרוּחַ וּמוֹרִיד הַגֶּשֶׁם. In summer (beginning at Musaf of Pesach's first day through Shacharit of Shemini Atzeret), say מוֹרִיד הַטָּל. Should one, in error, have said מַשִּׁיב הָרוּחַ וּמוֹרִיד הַגֶּשֶׁם in summer, it must be corrected, and repeating the Amidah may be required (for further laws, see page 589). Should one, in error, have said מוֹרִיד הַטָּל in winter, there is no need to go back and correct it.
