BLESSING OF THE NEW MONTH
On the Shabbat that precedes Rosh Chodesh (save the Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah), the blessing that follows is recited for the new month.
One should know when the new moon's reappearance ("birth") will take place before blessing the month. The gabbai announces the date and time.
Having risen, remain standing until this blessing is concluded. The chazzan, at the bimah, holds the Torah from which the week's portion was read.
Transliteration is on page 634.
