The Amidah

Reader

Israeli: ' marks a reduced vowel that Israeli speech drops (b'rachah); when the vowel is pronounced it is written e (lefanecha). - separates syllables that would otherwise run together.

How to read the transliterations
The paragraph below is spoken only when the whole Amidah is said in silence:
Israeli
atah kadosh veshimcha kadosh,
ukdoshim b'chol-yom yehalelucha selah.
baruch atah Adonai, ha-El hakadosh.
English
You are holy and Your name is holy; each day the holy ones praise You. Barukh atah Adonai, the Holy God.
We substitute on Shabbat Shuvah:
Israeli
baruch atah Adonai, hamelech hakadosh.
English
Barukh atah Adonai, the Sacred Sovereign.

Fourth B’rakhah: Celebrating the Shabbat

An alternate form of this b’rakhah, not focused on sacrifices, continues on the next page.

THE TEMPLE SERVICE AND SHABBAT

English
You ordained Shabbat and sought its offerings. You set forth the particulars of its service and the sequence of the libations. Those who delight in Shabbat inherit everlasting glory. Those who taste Shabbat truly deserve life; those who cherish its teachings elect to share in its greatness. Adonai our God, at Sinai You enjoined its observance and enjoined our ancestors to bring an additional fitting sacrifice on Shabbat.

English
Let it please You, Adonai our God and God of our ancestors, who returns their descendants to their land, to guide us there gladly and to root us within our borders, where our ancestors once brought You their sacrifices: the daily offerings in due order, together with the extra offerings appointed for holy days. There, in love, the additional Shabbat sacrifices were presented as You commanded, completing the words uttered in revelation and set down by Moses, your servant, within Your Torah:
Israeli

ushnei esronim solet minchah b'lulah vashemen venisko.
olat Shabat b'Shabato, al olat hatamid veniskah.
English
On Shabbat: two unblemished yearling lambs, along with two-tenths of a measure of fine flour mixed with oil as a meal offering, and the fitting libation—a burnt offering for each Shabbat, apart from the perpetual burnt offering and its libation.
