A Prayer for Creation’s Renewal

Master of the universe, in whose hand lies the breath of all that lives and the soul of every person, grant us Shabbat as a gift, a day of rest from all our labors. With all our senses may we behold the glory of Your works. Fill us with Your goodness, that we may bear witness to Your great deeds. Strengthen us to become Your faithful partners, safeguarding the world for the sake of generations to come. Adonai our God and God of our ancestors, may it be Your will to renew Your blessing upon the world in our day, as You have wrought from the beginning of time.

A Prayer for Our Nation

Our God and the God of our ancestors, mercifully accept our prayer for our country and its government. Pour Your blessing out upon this land, upon those who inhabit it, upon its leaders, judges, officers, and officials, who give themselves faithfully to the public's needs. Help them grasp the just rules You have decreed, so peace and security, happiness and freedom, never depart from our land. Adonai, God whose spirit is in all creatures, we pray that within all who inhabit our land Your spirit be awakened. From our hearts uproot hatred and malice, jealousy and strife. Among the many peoples and faiths who dwell in our nation, plant love and companionship, peace and friendship. Grant us knowledge for judging justly, wisdom for acting with compassion, and understanding and courage to root out poverty from our land. May Your will be that our land prove a blessing to all who dwell on earth, and may You cause every people to dwell in friendship and freedom. Fulfill speedily the vision of Your prophets: “No nation shall lift sword against nation, nor shall they learn war anymore.” “For they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest.” And we say: Amen.
