God’s Reign: A Collection of Biblical Verses

Israeli
yehi ch'vod Adonai le-olam, yismach Adonai b'ma-asav.
yehi shem Adonai mevorach me-atah ve-ad olam.
mimizrach shemesh ad mevo-o, mehulal shem Adonai.
ram al kol goyim Adonai, al hashamayim k'vodo.
Adonai shimcha le-olam, Adonai zichrecha ledor vador.
English
May Adonai’s glory last forever; may God take joy in all that God made; may Adonai’s name be blessed now and forever. From earth’s one rim to the other, may Adonai’s name be praised. God’s glory stands above the heavens, far above that of any people. Adonai, Your name is everlasting; Adonai, You are known through every generation.
Israeli
Adonai bashamayim hechin kiso, umalchuto bakol mashalah.
yismechu hashamayim vetagel ha-aretz, veyomru vagoyim Adonai malach.
Adonai melech, Adonai malach, Adonai yimloch le-olam va-ed.
Adonai melech olam va-ed, avdu goyim me-artzo.
English
Adonai set a throne in the heavens; Adonai’s rule extends over all. Let heaven be glad and earth take joy, while the world’s peoples proclaim, “Adonai reigns.” Adonai is king, Adonai has always been king, Adonai shall be king forever and ever. Adonai is king forever—even as nations vanish from God’s land.
Israeli
Adonai hefir atzat goyim, heni machshevot amim.
rabot machashavot b'lev ish, va-atzat Adonai hi takum.
atzat Adonai le-olam ta-amod, machshevot libo ledor vador.
ki hu amar vayehi, hu tzivah vaya-amod.
English
Adonai upends the designs of peoples and frustrates the schemes of nations. Human hearts form many plans, yet God’s purposes stand true for each generation. Adonai’s purpose lasts forever; God’s counsel is for each generation. It was God who spoke and called all things into being; it was God who commanded that they exist.
Israeli
ki vachar Adonai b'Tziyon, ivah lemoshav lo.
ki Ya-akov bachar lo Yah, Yisra-el lisgulato.
ki lo yitosh Adonai amo, venachalato lo ya-azov.
English
Adonai selected Zion, longing for it as a dwelling-place; Adonai selected Jacob, Israel as a treasured people. Adonai will not forsake this people, will not leave the heirs of divine favor.
Israeli
vehu rachum yechaper avon velo yashchit,
vehirbah lehashiv apo velo ya-ir kol chamato.
Adonai hoshi-ah, hamelech ya-anenu v'yom korenu.
English
God, who is compassionate, will pardon sin and not visit destruction; for time after time God acts with restraint, declining to let wrath become all-consuming. Adonai, aid us; Sovereign, reply to us when we call.
