The Dedication of the Ark: David’s Prayer

Offer thanks to Adonai; cry out in God’s name. Let all peoples know of God’s deeds. Hymn to God, sing to God, recount all of God’s wondrous acts, and glory in God’s holy name. May all who long for Adonai find joy in their hearts. Seek Adonai, praise God, continually thirst for God’s presence. Recall the wonders God performed, God’s marvelous deeds and judgment. Offspring of Israel, servant of God, treasured children of Jacob, Adonai is our God; the whole earth is subject to God’s law. Keep always in mind God’s covenant—binding words for a thousand generations—made with Abraham, pledged to Isaac, and confirmed in a decree to Jacob, an eternal covenant with Israel, saying: I will give you the land of Canaan as your allotted inheritance. Few in number were you then, scarcely dwelling there. As you wandered from people to people, from one nation to another, God allowed no one to oppress you, but warned rulers, “Do not touch My anointed; do not harm My prophets.”
