אֵל מִסְתַּתֵּר בְּשַׁפְרִיר חֶבְיוֹן, הַשֵּׂכֶל הַנֶּעְלָם מִכָּל רַעְיוֹן
עִלַּת הָעִלּוֹת מֻכְתָּר בְּכֶתֶר עֶלְיוֹן, כֶּתֶר יִתְּנוּ לְךָ יְהֹוָה.

Sephardi

Eil Mistater beshafrir chevyon, hasechel hane'elam mikol ra'ayon
Ilat ha'ilot muchtar becheter Elyon, keter yitnu lecha Adonai.

English

God hides Himself in the beauty of concealment, His wisdom opaque to all human thought; / Cause of causes, adorned with the highest crown, they [the angels] give You, LORD, a crown.

בְּרֵאשִׁית תּוֹרָתְךָ הַקְּדוּמָה, רְשׁוּמָה חָכְמָתְךָ הַסְּתוּמָה
מֵאַיִן תִּמָּצֵא וְהִיא נֶעְלָמָה, רֵאשִׁית חָכְמָה יִרְאַת יְהֹוָה.

Sephardi

Bereshit Toratcha hakedumah, reshumah chochmatecha hastumah
Me'ayin timatze vehi ne'elamah, reshit chochmah yirat Adonai.

English

In the beginning was Your primordial Torah, inscribed with Your hermetic wisdom. Where can it be found? It is hidden. Wisdom begins in awe of the LORD.

רְחֹבוֹת הַנָּהָר נַחֲלֵי אֱמוּנָה, מַיִם עֲמֻקִּים יִדְלֵם אִישׁ תְּבוּנָה

English

Wider than a river, like never-ending streams, deep waters, that only an understanding man can draw, / its outcomes are the fifty gates of understanding. The faithful are guarded by the LORD.

הָאֵל הַגָּדוֹל עֵינֵי כֹל נֶגְדֶּךָ, רַב חֶסֶד גָּדוֹל עַל הַשָּׁמַיִם חַסְדֶּךָ
אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם זְכֹר לְעַבְדֶּךָ, חַסְדֵי יְהֹוָה אוֹכִיחַ תְּהִלּוֹת יְהֹוָה.

Ha'El hagadol einei chol negdecha, rav chesed gadol al hashamayim chasdecha
Elohei Avraham zechor le'avdecha, chasdei Adonai ochiach tehilot Adonai.

English

Great God, all eyes are turned toward You. Your great kindness is higher than the heavens. / God of Abraham, remember Your servant, I will tell of the LORD’s kindness, sing praises to the LORD.

מָרוֹם נֶאְדָּר בְּכֹחַ וּגְבוּרָה, מוֹצִיא אוֹרָה מֵאַיִן תְּמוּרָה

English

Sublime, majestic in strength and might, who brings forth unparalleled light, “Awe of Isaac,” make our judgment light. Forever, LORD, is Your might.

מִי אֵל כָּמוֹךָ עוֹשֶׂה גְדוֹלוֹת, אַבִּיר יַעֲקֹב נוֹרָא תְהִלּוֹת

English

Who is like You, God, doing great deeds, Mighty One of Jacob, awesome in praise, Splendor of Israel, who listens to prayers, LORD who listens to those in need.

יָהּ, זְכוּת אָבוֹת יָגֵן עָלֵינוּ, נֵצַח יִשְׂרָאֵל, מִצָּרוֹתֵינוּ גְאָלֵנוּ
וּמִבּוֹר גָּלוּת דְּלֵנוּ וְהַעֲלֵנוּ, לְנַצֵּחַ עַל מְלֶאכֶת בֵּית יְהֹוָה.

Yah, zechut avot yagen aleinu, Netzach Yisrael, mitzarotenu ge'alenu
Umibor galut delenu veha'alenu, lenatze'ach al melechet Beit Adonai.

English

God, may the merit of the fathers be our shield. Eternal One of Israel, redeem us from distress. / Draw us, raise us, from the pit of exile, that we may loudly sing in service at the House of the LORD.

מִיָּמִין וּמִשְּׂמֹאל יְנִיקַת הַנְּבִיאִים, נֵצַח וְהוֹד מֵהֶם נִמְצָאִים

English

Foundation, the Righteous, is hidden in Seven, the sign of the covenant to the world. Source of blessing, Righteous, Foundation of the world, righteous are You, LORD.

English

Restore, please, David and Solomon’s kingdom, with the crown with which his mother crowned it. / The congregation of Israel is sweetly called a bride, a crown of splendor in the hand of the LORD.

English

Mighty One, unite the ten Sefirot as one. Those who divide them from the LORD will see no light. / Together they shine like sapphire. Bring my song close to You, LORD.

I shall wash my hands with one vessel, to that Shadow Side that has no existence of its own.

English

If we are three then I shall invite [the others to Grace] over a cup of blessing, for that First Cause of all causes, the Ancient Holy One.
