TAKING THE TORAH FROM THE ARK
The Torah is read whenever a minyan is present, on Mondays and Thursdays, Rosh Ḥodesh, Ḥol HaMo'ed, Ḥanukka, Purim and Fast Days. On all other days, proceed with "Happy are those" on page 176.
On Mondays and Thursdays, stand and recite "God, slow to anger" before taking the Torah from the Ark. Omit it on Rosh Ḥodesh, Ḥol HaMo'ed, Erev Pesaḥ and Ḥanukka; likewise on Adar I's 14th and 15th, Purim and Shushan Purim, Yom HaAtzma'ut, Yom Yerushalayim and Tisha B'Av; also in a house of mourning; and, within Israel, on Isru Ḥag. Most people recite both paragraphs; some recite only the first.
