PIYUTEI GEULA – BERAH DODI

GEULA FOR THE FIRST DAY OF PESAH

A unique feature of the Yotzerot for Pesah is the Piyutei Geula, which precede the blessing "who redeemed Israel."
Song. 2

English
Hasten, my Beloved, before the time comes for our youthful love; have compassion for us once more, for the kings of the evil Edom, our captors and tormentors, have almost destroyed us: break them and uproot them from our midst! Rebuild Your Temple, and let our offspring make music within. "Here He stands behind our wall!"
Song. 2
Sephardi
Berach dodi ad sheyipuch ketz mechuzzeh
chish venasu hatzelalim mizeh
yarum venisa, vegavohah nivzeh
yaskil veyochiach, vegoyim rabim yazzeh
chasof zero'acha, kera bazzeh kol dodi hineh-zeh:
English
Hasten, my Beloved, before the envisioned time blows by; hurry, and let the shadows fly away from our midst. The once despised [Messiah] shall be exalted, lofty, raised high; he shall prosper; he shall reprove and preach to many nations. Bare Your arm as we call out: "The voice of my Beloved - I hear Him coming!"
Song. 8
Sephardi

veyere veyevosh oyvi - va'ashivah chorfi binyavi
zeh dodi, go'ali, kerovi - re'i va'ahuvi - Eil elohei avi.
English
Hasten, my Beloved, and be like a gazelle; reveal and bring near my time of redemption; draw me out of my captivity to be a crown of glory. We are despised, and long for the beautiful [Temple] Mount, but there is neither leader nor prophet, no [Elijah the] Tishbite to straighten my path or restore me; so plead my cause, erase my debt and my suffering, let my enemy see it and be put to shame. Then shall I respond to my scorner, saying: "This is my Beloved, my closest Redeemer, my Companion and Cherished One, God, the God of my father!"
Sephardi
Biglal avot toshi'a banim, vetavi geulah livnei veneihem
Baruch atah Adonai, ga'al Yisrael.
English
For the sake of the ancestors, redeem the descendants, bringing salvation to their children's children. Blessed are You, LORD, who redeemed Israel.
