you must leave it be and let it lie fallow, so that the poor among your people might eat of it, and the beasts of the field might eat what remains; this is what you shall do with your vineyards and olive orchards. Six days you may perform your work, but on the seventh day, you shall refrain from working, so that your ox and donkey might rest, and so that the child of your female slave, and the stranger, might find respite. Take care to adhere to all that I have commanded you, and do not pronounce the name of any foreign god; none of them should be heard from your mouth. You shall celebrate three festivals each year for Me. Keep the Festival of Matzot: eat matzot for seven days, as I have commanded you, in the season of the month of the Aviv, for that is when you came out of Egypt - do not come before Me empty-handed; and the Festival of Harvest, [when you shall offer] the first produce of the grain that you plant in the field, and the Festival of Gathering, at the end of the year, when you gather your harvest from the field. Three times a year all males shall present themselves before their Master, the LORD. Do not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leaven; the fats of My festive [Pesah] offering may not remain until the morning. You shall bring the first fruits of your land to the House of the LORD your God. You may not cook a kid in its mother's milk.
