English
Turn to this prisoner who has been yielded up, to the hand of Babylon and then of Seir; to You he has been calling all these years, and he pleads like a small child, on the day the enemy prevailed and the city was broken through.

English
And so I bow myself and strike my hands together, on this day of five disasters that scattered me about, for at the time of the golden calf, the Tablets left me. And the daily offering was annulled, and they brought me away in a cage. And an idol was placed in the Sanctuary that was my crowning glory, and I was deprived of His counsel. The meal-offering was ended, and Your Law – the foe sent it up in flames, on the day the enemy prevailed and the city was broken through.

English
I tremble terribly, I stand horrified, on the day the LORD pushed me aside, And Sennacherib, the Viper of the north, swept me away like a deluge. My light grew dark, and Sheshakh [Babylon] too, tossed me about like a ball. And the hunter stretched out his hand, and the goat of Greece, the hairy one of Rome, on the day the enemy prevailed and the city was broken through.

Yom gavar ha'oyev vatibaka ha'ir.
English
The glory of my heart, my Stronghold, will Your rage fume forever? Will You not see this weary nation, blackened as if by the furnace? Close, with the descendant of Peretz, the breach in my fence, and, from among the thorns, pick out the lily. Build the Temple, and return the borders of the Carmel and of Bashan. And open Your eyes, exact vengeance from Etzer and Dishan. Judge a people struck dumb, so that the damages be paid, by the one who destroys, the one who burns – on the day the enemy prevailed and the city was broken through.
