Your salvation. 15 Deliver me from the mire, and let me not sink; let me be delivered from those who hate me, and from the depths of the waters. 16 Let not the flood of waters overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut its mouth upon me. 17 Answer me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is good; according to the multitude of Your mercies turn to me. 18 And hide not Your face from Your servant, for I am in distress; answer me speedily. 19 Draw near to my soul and redeem it; ransom me because of my enemies. 20 You know my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonor; all my adversaries are before You. 21 Reproach has broken my heart, and I am sick; I looked for someone to take pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. 22 They gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 23 Let their table become a snare before them, and to those at peace, a trap. 24 Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see, and make their loins continually shake. 25 Pour out Your indignation upon them, and let Your fierce anger overtake them. 26 Let their habitation be desolate; let none dwell in their tents. 27 For they persecute him whom You have struck, and they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded. 28 Add iniquity to their iniquity, and let them not come into Your righteousness. 29 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. 30 But I am poor and in pain; let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high. 31 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. 32 And it shall please the Lord better than an ox or a bull that has horns and hoofs. 33 The humble shall see it and be glad; you who seek God, let your heart revive. 34 For the Lord hears the needy, and does not despise His prisoners. 35 Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moves therein. 36 For God will save Zion, and build the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it. 37 The seed of His servants shall inherit it, and those who love His name shall dwell therein.

For the conductor, of David, for a memorial. 2 O God, to deliver me; O Lord, make haste to help me. 3 Let those be ashamed and confounded who seek my life; let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor who desire my hurt. 4 Let them be turned back because of their shame who say, Aha, Aha! 5 Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; and let those who love Your salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. 6 But I am poor and needy; O God, make haste to me. You are my help and my deliverer; O Lord, do not delay.

In You, O Lord, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. 2 In Your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline Your ear to me and save me. 3 Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually come; You have given commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. 4 My God, rescue me from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless man. 5 For You are my hope, O Lord God, my trust from my youth. 6 Upon You I have leaned from birth; You are He who took me from my mother's womb. My praise is continually of You. 7 I have become as a wonder to many, but You are my strong refuge. 8 My mouth is filled with Your praise, and with Your glory all the day. 9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; when my strength fails, do not forsake me. 10 For my enemies speak against me, and those who watch for my life take counsel together, 11 saying, God has forsaken him; pursue and seize him, for there is none to deliver. 12 O God, be not far from me; O my God, make haste to help me. 13 Let those be ashamed and consumed who are adversaries of my soul; let those be covered with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt. 14 But as for me, I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more. 15 My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness, and of Your salvation all the day, for I do not know their number. 16 I will come with the mighty deeds of the Lord God; I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone. 17 O God, You have taught me from my youth, and I still declare Your wondrous deeds. 18 And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your might to all who are to come. 19 Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the heights, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You? 20 You who have shown me many troubles and evils will revive me again, and will bring me up again from the depths of the earth. 21 May You increase my greatness, and turn to comfort me. 22 I will also praise You with the harp for Your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to You with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. 23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed. 24 My tongue also will utter Your righteousness all the day long; for they are ashamed, for they are confounded, who seek my hurt.

Of Solomon. O God, give Your judgments to the king, and Your righteousness to the king's son. 2 May he judge Your people with righteousness, and Your poor with justice. 3 Let the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills, through righteousness. 4 May he judge the poor of the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor. 5 They shall fear You as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. 6 May he come down like rain upon the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. 7 In his days may the righteous flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. 8 May he have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth. 9 Let the desert-dwellers bow before him, and his enemies lick the dust. 10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring tribute; the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. 11 Yes, all kings shall fall down before him; all nations shall serve him. 12 For he will deliver the needy when he cries, the poor also, and him who has no helper. 13 He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and will save the souls of the needy. 14 He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence, and precious will their blood be in his sight. 15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba; prayer also shall be made for him continually, and daily shall he be blessed. 16 May there be abundance of grain in the earth upon the top of the mountains; may its fruit wave like Lebanon, and may people blossom from the city like grass of the earth. 17 May his name endure forever; as long as the sun, may his name be continued; and may men bless themselves by him; let all nations call him happy. 18 Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. 19 And blessed be His glorious name forever; and let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen. 20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

A psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped. 3 For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no pangs in their death, and their body is fat. 5 They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride is their necklace; violence covers them as a garment. 7 Their eyes stand out with fatness; they have more than heart could wish. 8 They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue struts through the earth. 10 Therefore his people turn back to them, and waters of a full cup are drained by them. 11 And they say, How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High? 12 Behold, these are the wicked; always at ease, they increase in riches. 13 Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocence. 14 For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. 15 If I had said, I will speak thus, behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. 16 When I thought how to understand this, it was wearisome in my eyes, 17 until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. 18 Surely You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. 19 How they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. 20 As a dream when one awakes, so, O Lord, when You awake, You will despise their image. 21 For my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. 22 So foolish was I, and ignorant; I was as a beast before You. 23 Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold my right hand. 24 You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 27 For behold, those who are far from You shall perish; You destroy all who go astray from You. 28 But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.

A maskil of Asaph. Why, O God, have You cast us off forever? Why does Your anger smoke against the flock of Your pasture? 2 Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance; Mount Zion, wherein You have dwelt. 3 Lift up Your steps to the perpetual ruins; all the evil that the enemy has done in the sanctuary. 4 Your adversaries have roared in the midst of Your meeting-place; they have set up their ensigns for signs. 5 They seemed as men that lifted up axes upon a thicket of trees. 6 And now all the carved work thereof together they break down with hatchet and hammers. 7 They have set Your sanctuary on fire; they have profaned the dwelling-place of Your name to the ground. 8 They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether; they have burned up all the meeting-places of God in the land. 9 We see not our signs; there is no more any prophet; neither is there among us any that knows how long. 10 How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach? Shall the enemy blaspheme Your name forever? 11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Draw it out of Your bosom and consume them. 12 Yet God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. 13 You did divide the sea by Your strength; You did break the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters. 14 You did crush the heads of leviathan, and did give him for food to the people of the wilderness. 15 You did cleave fountain and brook; You did dry up ever-flowing rivers. 16 The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have established luminary and sun. 17 You have set all the borders of the earth; You have made summer and winter. 18 Remember this, how the enemy has reproached the Lord, and how a base people have blasphemed Your name. 19 O deliver not the soul of Your turtle-dove unto the wild beast; forget not the life of Your poor forever. 20 Look upon the covenant; for the dark places of the land are full of the habitations of violence. 21 O let not the oppressed turn back in confusion; let the poor and needy praise Your name. 22 Arise, O God, plead Your own cause; remember how the base man reproaches You all the day. 23 Forget not the voice of Your adversaries, the tumult of those that rise up against You which ascends continually.

For the conductor, Al-tashcheth. A psalm of Asaph, a song. 2 We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, and Your name is near; men tell of Your wondrous works. 3 When I choose the appointed time, it is I who judge with equity. 4 When the earth and all its inhabitants melt, it is I who establish its pillars. Selah. 5 I say to the arrogant, Do not deal arrogantly; and to the wicked, Do not lift up the horn. 6 Do not lift up your horn on high; do not speak with a stiff neck. 7 For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the wilderness comes exaltation. 8 But God is the judge; He puts down one, and lifts up another. 9 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, with foaming wine, full of mixture, and He pours out from this; surely all the wicked of the earth shall drain and drink its dregs. 10 But as for me, I will declare forever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 11 All the horns of the wicked I will cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
