Your dwelling places. 4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise You with the lyre, O God, my God. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him, my salvation and my God.

For the conductor, of the sons of Korah, a maskil. 2 O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us, the work that You did in their days, in the days of old. 3 You with Your own hand drove out the nations, but them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, but them You set free. 4 For not by their own sword did they win the land, nor did their own arm save them, but Your right hand and Your arm, and the light of Your face, for You delighted in them. 5 You are my King, O God; ordain salvation for Jacob. 6 Through You we push down our foes; through Your name we trample those who rise against us. 7 For not in my bow do I trust, nor can my sword save me. 8 But You have saved us from our foes, and have put to shame those who hate us. 9 In God we have boasted all the day long, and we will give thanks to Your name forever. Selah. 10 Yet You have rejected us and disgraced us, and have not gone out with our armies. 11 You make us turn back from the foe, and those who hate us have taken spoil for themselves. 12 You have given us up like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations. 13 You sell Your people for a trifle, demanding no high price for them. 14 You make us a taunt to our neighbors, the derision and scorn of those around us. 15 You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples. 16 All day long my disgrace is before me, and shame has covered my face 17 at the sound of the taunter and reviler, at the sight of the enemy and the avenger. 18 All this has come upon us, though we have not forgotten You, and we have not been false to Your covenant. 19 Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from Your way— 20 yet You have crushed us in the place of jackals and covered us with the shadow of death. 21 If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, 22 would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart. 23 Yet for Your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered. 24 Awake! Why do You sleep, O Lord? Rouse Yourself! Do not reject us forever! 25 Why do You hide Your face? Why do You forget our affliction and oppression? 26 For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly clings to the ground. 27 Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of Your lovingkindness!

For the conductor, upon Shoshannim, of the sons of Korah, a maskil, a song of love. 2 My heart overflows with a goodly theme; I address my verses to the king; my tongue is the pen of a ready scribe. 3 You are the fairest of the sons of men; grace is poured upon Your lips; therefore God has blessed You forever. 4 Gird Your sword upon Your thigh, O mighty one, in Your glory and majesty. 5 In Your majesty ride forth victoriously for the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness; let Your right hand teach You awesome deeds. 6 Your arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies; the peoples fall under You. 7 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of uprightness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 8 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, Your God, has anointed You with the oil of gladness beyond Your companions. 9 Your robes are all fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia; from ivory palaces stringed instruments make You glad. 10 Daughters of kings are among Your ladies of honor; at Your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir. 11 Hear, O daughter, and consider, and incline your ear: forget your people and your father's house, 12 and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him. 13 The daughter of Tyre will seek your favor with gifts, the richest of the people. 14 All glorious is the princess within; her clothing is interwoven with gold. 15 In many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions following her. 16 With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. 17 In place of your fathers shall be your sons; you will make them princes in all the earth. 18 I will cause Your name to be remembered in all generations; therefore peoples will praise You forever and ever.

For the conductor, of the sons of Korah, upon Alamoth, a song. 2 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 3 Therefore we will not fear though the earth give way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the seas, 4 though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah. 5 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. 6 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 7 The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; He utters His voice, the earth melts. 8 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah. 9 Come, behold the works of the Lord, who has brought desolations on the earth. 10 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; He burns the chariots with fire. 11 Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. 12 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah.

A song; a psalm of the sons of Korah. 2 Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, His holy mountain. 3 Beautiful in elevation, the joy of all the earth, is Mount Zion, in the far north, the city of the great King. 4 God is in her citadels; He has made Himself known as a fortress. 5 For behold, the kings assembled; they came on together. 6 As soon as they saw it, they were astounded; they were in panic, they took to flight. 7 Trembling took hold of them there, anguish as of a woman in labor. 8 With the east wind You shatter the ships of Tarshish. 9 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God, which God will establish forever. Selah. 10 We have thought on Your lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Your temple. 11 As Your name, O God, so Your praise reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is filled with righteousness. 12 Let Mount Zion be glad! Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments! 13 Walk about Zion, go around her, number her towers, 14 consider well her ramparts, go through her citadels, that you may tell the next generation 15 that this is God, our God forever and ever. He will guide us forever.

For the conductor, of the sons of Korah, a psalm. 2 Hear this, all peoples! Give ear, all inhabitants of the world, 3 both low and high, rich and poor together. 4 My mouth shall speak wisdom; the meditation of my heart shall be understanding. 5 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will solve my riddle to the music of the lyre. 6 Why should I fear in days of evil, when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me, 7 those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches? 8 Truly no man can ransom another, or give to God the price of his life, 9 for the ransom of their life is costly and can never suffice, 10 that he should live on forever and never see the pit. 11 For he sees that even the wise die; the fool and the stupid alike must perish and leave their wealth to others. 12 Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they called lands by their own names. 13 Man in his pomp will not remain; he is like the beasts that perish. 14 This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them men approve of their sayings. Selah. 15 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. 16 But God will ransom my soul from the power of Sheol, for He will receive me. Selah. 17 Be not afraid when a man becomes rich, when the glory of his house increases. 18 For when he dies he will carry nothing away; his glory will not go down after him. 19 Though while he lives he counts himself blessed—and though you get praise when you do well for yourself— 20 his soul will go to the generation of his fathers, who will never again see light. 21 Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

A psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth. 3 Our God comes; He does not keep silence; before Him is a devouring fire, around Him a mighty tempest. 4 He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that He may judge His people: 5 Gather to Me My faithful ones, who made a covenant with Me by sacrifice! 6 The heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is judge. Selah. 7 Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify against you. I am God, your God. 8 Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before Me. 9 I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds. 10 For every beast of the forest is Mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is Mine. 12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are Mine. 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? 14 Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and perform your vows to the Most High, 15 and call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. 16 But to the wicked God says: What right have you to recite My statutes or take My covenant on your lips? 17 For you hate discipline, and you cast My words behind you. 18 If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers. 19 You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. 20 You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son. 21 These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you. 22 Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! 23 The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies Me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God.

For the conductor, a psalm of David, 2 when Nathan the prophet came to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba. 3 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; according to the abundance of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. 4 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 5 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. 6 Against You, You only, have I sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be justified in Your words and blameless in Your judgment. 7 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me. 8 Behold, You delight in truth in the inward being, and You teach me wisdom in the secret heart. 9 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 10 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that You have broken rejoice. 11 Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. 12 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 13 Do not
