29 A psalm of David. Ascribe to the Lord, O sons of the mighty, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. 2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory of His name; bow down to the Lord in the beauty of holiness. 3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord is upon many waters. 4 The voice of the Lord is in power; the voice of the Lord is in majesty. 5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon. 6 He makes them skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. 7 The voice of the Lord hews out flames of fire. 8 The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness; the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. 9 The voice of the Lord makes the hinds calve and strips the forests bare, and in His temple all say, Glory. 10 The Lord sat enthroned at the Flood; the Lord sits as King forever. 11 The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.

30 A psalm; a song for the dedication of the House; of David. 2 I will exalt You, O Lord, for You have drawn me up, and have not let my foes rejoice over me. 3 O Lord my God, I cried to You, and You healed me. 4 O Lord, You brought up my soul from Sheol; You kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit. 5 Sing praise to the Lord, O His devout ones, and give thanks to His holy name. 6 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning. 7 As for me, I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved. 8 O Lord, by Your favor You had established my mountain as a stronghold; You hid Your face, I was dismayed. 9 To You, O Lord, I call, and to the Lord I make supplication: 10 What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth? 11 Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me; O Lord, be my helper. 12 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, 13 that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

31 For the conductor, a psalm of David. 2 In You, O Lord, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame; in Your righteousness deliver me. 3 Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly; be a rock of refuge for me, a strong fortress to save me. 4 For You are my rock and my fortress; for Your name's sake lead me and guide me. 5 Bring me out of the net that they have hidden for me, for You are my stronghold. 6 Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth. 7 I hate those who regard worthless idols, but I trust in the Lord. 8 I will rejoice and be glad in Your lovingkindness, because You have seen my affliction; You have known the troubles of my soul, 9 and have not delivered me into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a broad place.

10 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief, my soul and my body also. 11 For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. 12 Because of all my adversaries I have become a reproach, especially to my neighbors, and an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. 13 I have been forgotten like one who is dead, out of mind; I have become like a broken vessel. 14 For I hear the whispering of many—terror on every side—as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life. 15 But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, You are my God. 16 My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors. 17 Make Your face shine upon Your servant; save me in Your lovingkindness. 18 O Lord, let me not be put to shame, for I call upon You; let the wicked be put to shame; let them be silent in Sheol. 19 Let the lying lips be mute, which speak insolently against the righteous with pride and contempt. 20 How abundant is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You have wrought for those who take refuge in You, in the sight of the children of men! 21 In the cover of Your presence You hide them from the plots of men; You store them in a shelter from the strife of tongues. 22 Blessed be the Lord, for He has wondrously shown His lovingkindness to me in a besieged city. 23 As for me, I said in my alarm, I am cut off from before Your eyes. Nevertheless, You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried to You. 24 Love the Lord, all you His devout ones! The Lord preserves the faithful, but repays abundantly the one who acts haughtily. 25 Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord.

32 Of David. A maskil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. 2 Happy is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my moisture was changed as with the drought of summer. Selah. 5 I acknowledged my sin to You, and my iniquity I did not cover; I said, I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah. 6 For this let every devout one pray to You at a time when You may be found; surely when the great waters overflow they shall not reach him. 7 You are a hiding place for me; You preserve me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah. 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you. 9 Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, else it will not stay near you. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but lovingkindness shall surround the one who trusts in the Lord. 11 Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous; and shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. 7 He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; He lays up the deeps in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm. 10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He frustrates the plans of the peoples. 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart to all generations. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom He has chosen as His heritage. 13 The Lord looks down from heaven; He sees all the children of men. 14 From His dwelling place He gazes on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 He who fashions the hearts of them all, who discerns all their works. 16 A king is not saved by the greatness of an army; a warrior is not delivered by great strength. 17 The horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. 18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His lovingkindness, 19 to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. 21 For in Him our heart rejoices, because we have trusted in His holy name. 22 Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in You.

34 Of David, when he changed his demeanor before Abimelech, so that he drove him out, and he went away. 2 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 3 My soul makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble hear and be glad. 4 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. 5 I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. 6 They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. 7 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 8 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them. 9 O taste and see that the Lord is good! Happy is the man who takes refuge in Him. 10 O fear the Lord, you His holy ones, for those who fear Him have no lack. 11 The young lions suffer want and hunger, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. 12 Come, O children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 13 Who is the man who desires life, who loves days to see good? 14 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. 15 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. 16 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous, and His ears toward their cry. 17 The face of the Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth. 18 When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. 19 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. 20 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. 21 He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken. 22 Evil shall slay the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be condemned. 23 The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, and none of those who take refuge in Him shall be condemned.

35 Of David. Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me. 2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise up for my help. 3 Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers; say to my soul, I am your salvation. 4 Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek after my life; let them be turned back and confounded who devise evil against me. 5 Let them be like chaff before the wind, with the angel of the Lord driving them on. 6 Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the Lord pursuing them. 7 For without cause they hid their net for me; without cause they dug a pit for my life. 8 Let destruction come upon him unawares, and let the net that he hid ensnare him; let him fall into it—into destruction. 9 Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord, exulting in His salvation. 10 All my bones shall say, O Lord, who is like You, delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, the poor and needy from him who robs him? 11 Malicious witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I do not know. 12 They repay me evil for good; my soul is forlorn. 13 But as for me, when they were sick—my clothing was sackcloth; I afflicted myself with fasting; I prayed with head bowed on my bosom. 14 I went about as though it were my friend or brother; I bowed down mourning, as one who laments his mother. 15 But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered; they gathered together against me, wretches whom I did not know; they tore at me without ceasing. 16 Like profane mockers at a feast, they gnash at me with their teeth. 17 How long, O Lord, will You look on? Rescue my soul from their ravages, my only one from the lions. 18 I will thank You in the great congregation; in the mighty throng I will praise You. 19 Let not those rejoice over me who are wrongfully my foes, and let not those wink the eye who hate me without cause. 20 For they do not speak peace, but against those who are quiet in the land they conceive deceitful words. 21 They open wide their mouths against me; they say, Aha, Aha! our eye has seen it. 22 You have seen, O Lord; be not silent! O Lord, be not far from me! 23 Rouse Yourself and awake to my judgment, to my cause, my God and my Lord. 24 Vindicate me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness, and let them not rejoice over me. 25 Let them not say in their hearts, Aha, our desire! Let them not say, We have swallowed him up. 26 Let them be put to shame and confounded altogether who rejoice at my calamity; let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me. 27 Let those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and be glad, and say continually, Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of His servant. 28 Then my tongue shall tell of Your righteousness and of Your praise all the day long.

36 For the conductor, of the servant of the Lord, of David. 2 Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in his heart; there is no fear of God before his eyes. 3 For it flatters him in his own eyes that his iniquity will not be found out and hated. 4 The words of his mouth are trouble and deceit; he has ceased to act wisely and do good. 5 He plots trouble while on his bed; he sets himself in a way that is not good; he does not reject evil. 6 O Lord, Your lovingkindness is in the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. 7 Your righteousness is like the mountains of God; Your judgments are a great deep,
