וַיְהִי אֲנָשִׁים אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ
טְמֵאִים לְנֶפֶשׁ אָדָם וְלֹא־יָכְלוּ
לַעֲשֹׂת־הַפֶּסַח בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא
וַיִּקְרְבוּ לִפְנֵי מֹשֶׁה וְלִפְנֵי אַהֲרֹן
בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא: וַיֹּאמְרוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים
הָהֵמָּה אֵלָיו אֲנַחְנוּ טְמֵאִים
לְנֶפֶשׁ אָדָם לָמָּה נִגָּרַע לְבִלְתִּי
הַקְרִיב אֶת־קָרְבַּן יְהוָה בְּמֹעֲדוֹ
בְּתוֹךְ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל: וַיֹּאמֶר
אֲלֵהֶם מֹשֶׁה עִמְדוּ וְאֶשְׁמְעָה
מַה־יְצַוֶּה יְהוָה לָכֶם:

However, <b>there were men who were ritually impure because of contact with a corpse,</b> and, because of their impurity, <b>they could not sacrifice the Pesach-offering on that day. They approached Moses and Aaron on that day, and those men said to Moses: We are ritually impure because of contact with a corpse,</b> but why should we lose out by not being <b>allowed to bring</b> this <b>offering to God at its designated time together with</b> the rest of <b>the Children of Israel?</b> Instruct the Kohanim to perform the purification process for us and allow us to offer the sacrifice. <b>Moses answered them: Remain</b> where <b>you are, and wait until I hear what the Lord will command you</b> regarding this matter.
