תְּעַנֶּה אֱמוּנִים שׁוֹפְכִים לְךָ לֵב
כַּמַּיִם, לְמַעַן בָּא בָאֵשׁ<sup>1</sup>
וּבַמַּיִם, גָּזַר וְגַם יִקַּח נָא מְעַט
מַיִם, וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ אֵל מָעֻזֵּנוּ:
תְּעַנֶּה דְּגָלִים גָּזּוּ גִּזְרֵי מַיִם,
לְמַעַן הַנֶּעֱקַד בְּשַׁעַר הַשָּׁמַיִם,
וְשָׁב וְחָפַר בְּאֵרוֹת מַיִם,
וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ אֵל מָעֻזֵּנוּ: תְּעַנֶּה
זַכִּים מִתְחַנְּנִים עֲלֵי מַיִם,
לְמַעַן חָלַק מְפַצֵּל מַקְלוֹת
בְּשִׁקֲתוֹת הַמַּיִם, טָעַן וְגַל אֶבֶן
מִבְּאֵר מַיִם, וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנוּ אֵל
מָעֻזֵּנוּ: תְּעַנֶּה יְדִידִים נוֹחֲלֵי
דָּת מְשׁוּלַת מַיִם, לְמַעַן כָּרוּ
בְּמַשְׁעֲנוֹתָם מַיִם, לְהָכִין לָמוֹ

<b>Answer</b> the prayers of the Jewish Nation, <b>the faithful ones who pour out their hearts before You like water,</b> because of Abraham, who risked his life in the <b>fire</b> of Nimrod<sup>1</sup> and the river of <b>water</b> before the Binding of Isaac, and who instructed his household and said, <b>"Let some water be brought." Save us, God of our strength. Answer</b> the prayers of the tribes of the Jewish Nation, who passed through the <b>divided waters of the Sea of Reeds;</b> because of Isaac, <b>who was tied</b> as an offering on Mount Moriah, which faces <b>the Gate of Heaven</b> where our prayers are directed, and <b>who re-dug his father's water wells</b> after the Philistines blocked them. <b>Save us, God of our strength. Answer</b> the prayers of <b>the pure ones who plead for water;</b> because of Jacob, who put peeled sticks of wood into troughs of <b>water</b> and <b>lifted and rolled the heavy stone off the well</b> in Haran so that sheep could drink from it. <b>Save us, God of our strength. Answer Your beloved</b> people, the people who <b>inherited the Torah, which is compared to</b> water. Just as the world cannot exist without water, the Jewish Nation cannot exist without Torah. <b>Answer us because of</b> Moses and Aaron, who dug <b>for water with their sticks</b> to provide water for themselves and their descendants. <b>Save us, God of our strength. Answer our prayers for water as You did in the desert;</b> answer us because of Moses, <b>the most trusted one in Your house, who supplied the nation with water. He hit the rock and water flowed. Save us, God of our strength. Answer us as You answered those who sang, "Come up, fountain of water,"</b> in the desert; answer us because of Moses and Aaron, who were the ones <b>responsible at the waters of Meribah,</b> to give <b>water</b> to the thirsty Jewish Nation. <b>Save us, God of our strength. Answer</b> the prayers of the holy nation <b>that offered the water offering</b> on the altar during Sukkot; because of King David, the chief poet of Psalms, who, although he was thirsty for <b>water</b> and his soldiers had collected some for him, exclaimed, <b>"God forbid</b> that I should drink it," <b>and he gave it to You as a water offering. Save us, God of our strength. Answer</b> the prayers of <b>those who pray</b> on Sukkot with the Four Species that are <b>planted near water,</b> because of the Holy Temple, in the merit of which, rain would fall. <b>Let the earth open up and let the heavens give rain. Save us, God of our strength.</b>
