listen to Him; and He treats them with great kindness if they repent. The Lord is good to every living thing, and He has mercy on all His creations. Lord, all Your creations will give thanks to You, and Your devoted people will bless You. They will speak about the majesty of Your kingdom; they will speak about Your great strength. They will speak about these things to let people know about God's mighty acts, and the honorable beauty of His kingdom. God, Your kingdom is a kingdom that includes all worlds, and Your rulership over the worlds will continue forever, throughout all future generations.1 The Lord supports all those who fall, and He straightens those who are bent. God, everyone's eyes look hopefully to You for help, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and provide enough food to satisfy the desires of every living being. The Lord is fair in all His ways, and He is kind in everything He does. The Lord is close to all those who call out to Him, and He answers all those who call out to Him truthfully and honestly. He fulfills the desires and needs of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help, and He saves them. The Lord watches over all those who love Him, and He will destroy all the evil people. My mouth will say the praises of the Lord, and everyone will do the same and bless His holy name forever and ever. We will bless God, now and forever. Praise the Lord.

We should rely only on God

הַלְלוּיָהּ Praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing to my God for as long as I exist. Do not rely on important, powerful people, for they are only human beings, who do not have the power to bring salvation.2 When a person passes away and his soul leaves him, he is buried and returns to the ground.3 On that day, all of his plans become nothing. Therefore, fortunate is the person whose rescuer is the God of Jacob; fortunate is the person whose hope is in the Lord his God. God is the Creator of the heaven, the earth, and the sea, and everything that is in them. He keeps His word faithfully forever.

God helps everyone in need

He does justice for people who are mistreated. He provides food to those who are hungry.4 The Lord frees those who are imprisoned. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind and gives them sight. The Lord straightens those whose backs are bent.5 The Lord loves and protects the righteous. The Lord watches over converts who have no one to watch over them. He encourages orphans and widows, who have no one to help them, He confuses evil people by making their path twisted and complicated. May the Lord rule as king forever; may the God of Zion (Jerusalem) rule as king throughout all generations. Praise the Lord.

Commentary

1 The world is limited by space and time, but God's kingship, which extends through all worlds and all generations, is unlimited.

2 The word נְדִיבִים can also mean generous, and in this verse it would be referring to unholy powers. At first a person might think that these unholy powers are "generous" because it is so easy for a person to receive energy from them. But these unholy powers "don't have the power to save" the person from falling to a low spiritual level.

3 The energy that comes from unholy powers is temporary. When we elevate the holy sparks hidden in the world, the unholy powers are cut off from their source of energy, and they "return to the earth."

4 The evil inclination's distractions distance us from God and make us "hungry" for Godliness. God then turns this hunger and yearning into a source of motivation, giving us increased energy to serve Him.

5 These words are a reference to three kinds of struggles in the service of God: "The imprisoned" refers to those who want to meditate and connect to God but are tied down and "imprisoned" by physical matters. "The blind" refers to those who have eyes and are aware of the spiritual, but are "blind" and cannot connect to it in a meaningful way. "The bent" refers to those who look downward and are only involved in worldly matters. God helps all these people overcome their challenges.
