AMIDAH OF SHACHARIT FOR SHABBAT

While at prayer, fix your mind upon the meaning of the words. Be mindful that you stand before the Divine Presence. Banish any distracting thoughts, letting the mind stay fixed upon prayer. Before you begin the Amidah, take three steps backward, then three steps forward. Recite the Amidah quietly—yet audibly—while standing with feet together. Throughout the Amidah, which ends on page 217, interruptions of every kind are forbidden. For Laws concerning the Shabbat Amidah, see page 602.

In winter (from the Musaf of Shemini Atzeret until Shacharit on the first day of Pesach), say מַשִּׁיב הָרוּחַ וּמוֹרִיד הַגֶּשֶׁם. In summer (from Musaf on the first day of Pesach through Shacharit of Shemini Atzeret), say מוֹרִיד הַטָּל. Should one mistakenly say מַשִּׁיב הָרוּחַ וּמוֹרִיד הַגֶּשֶׁם in the summer, a correction is required, and repeating the Amidah may be needed (for additional laws, see page 589). Yet if one mistakenly said מוֹרִיד הַטָּל in the winter, there is no need to go back and correct it.
