Then Moses and the people Israel sang unto Adonai this song: I shall sing to Adonai, for He has triumphed gloriously, hurling horse and rider into the sea. Adonai is my power and my might; God is my salvation. This is my God, whom I glorify—the God of my forebears, whom I exalt. Adonai is a man of war; God’s name is Adonai. God has hurled Pharaoh’s chariots and host into the sea; the choicest of Pharaoh’s captains lie drowned in the Sea of Reeds. The deeps covered them; they sank like a stone in the abyss. Your right hand, Adonai, splendid in power—Your right hand, Adonai, dashes the foe to pieces. In Your majestic power You smash Your foes; You unleash Your fury, consuming them like straw. At the blast of Your rage the waters piled up; the sea stood still; the vast deep grew firm. The foe said: “I shall pursue, I shall overtake and plunder! I shall devour them, I shall draw my sword. With my own hand will I destroy them.” You sent forth the wind—the waters covered them. Like lead they sank amid the surging waters. Who is like You, Adonai, among the celestials? Who is like You, majestic in holiness, awesome in splendor, working wonders? You stretched forth Your hand—the earth swallowed them. In Your kindness You lead the people You redeemed; by Your strength You guide them toward Your holy habitation.
