AT THE MORNING: PSALM 30

Psalm 30

A PSALM, A SONG AT THE DEDICATION OF THE HOUSE, FOR DAVID I lift my voice in praise of You, Adonai, for You have raised me and have not let my foes rejoice over me. Adonai my God, I called out to You and You healed me. Adonai, from Sheol You brought me up; You gave me life and did not let me go down into the pit. Sing to Adonai, you faithful; praise God, as you utter God’s name. Surely the anger of God lasts but a moment, and when God is pleased, life is bestowed. One may lie down in tears at night, yet wake at morning with joyful song. In my ease I had said, “I shall never be undone.” Adonai, when You were pleased, You made of me a mountain of strength, yet when You hid Your face, terror seized me. To You I called, Adonai; I pleaded before my Master: “What profit would there be, were I to descend to the grave? Can dust offer You praise? Can it declare Your truth? Hear me, Adonai, and show me kindness; be my helper, Adonai.” You changed my mourning into a dance for me, You loosed my sackcloth and girded me with joy—that I might chant of Your glory and not keep silent: Adonai my God, I give You thanks, always.
