Ma'ariv for Weekdays

It is customary to preface Ma'ariv with the following psalm and collection of verses. On Motza'ei Shabbat some communities omit them.

English
Save Your people and bless Your heritage; tend them and carry them for ever. Would that we would receive the salvation of Israel from Zion, the LORD restoring Israel's fortunes, as Jacob celebrates, as Israel rejoices. In peace I shall lie down and I shall sleep, for You, LORD, alone, house me in safety. By day the LORD commands His kindness, and by night His song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life. The salvation of the righteous is with the LORD; their stronghold in time of distress. The LORD will help them and rescue them, rescue them from the wicked and save them, for in Him they seek their refuge.
