Blessings of the Shema
קריאת שמע וברכותיה
Israeli: ' marks a reduced vowel that Israeli speech drops (b'rachah); when the vowel is pronounced it is written e (lefanecha). - separates syllables that would otherwise run together.
How to read the transliterationsIntense concentration must accompany recitation of the Shema. Within the first paragraph one should, with love, accept the sovereignty of God; within the second, those mitzvot as the will of God. The third paragraph's close constitutes fulfillment of the mitzva of recalling, morning and evening, the exodus from Egypt. See laws 347–356.
When praying without a minyan, say:
