English

It was taught in the academy of Elijah: Whoever learns laws every day is guaranteed a share in the World to Come,1 as it says in Habakkuk: Halichot (the ways) of the world are decided by God; they are His. Do not read the word only as “halichot.” Rather, read it also as “halachot” (the laws). When we read the verse this way, it can mean that if a person learns and knows laws, then the World to Come is his.

Rabbi Elazar said in the name of Rabbi Chanina: Torah scholars increase peace in the world.2 As it says in Isaiah: All of your children will be learners of the Lord’s Torah, and the peace of banayich (your children) will be great. Do not read and explain the second occurrence of the word “banayich” to mean only your children, since that word is already mentioned in the beginning of the verse. Rather, read it to also mean “bonayich” (your builders). When we read the verse this way, it can mean that the builders among the Jewish Nation—the Torah scholars—have much peace and bring much peace into the world. God, those who love Your Torah have much peace, and there is no stumbling block before them. Jerusalem, May there be peace within your walls and calmness within your mansions. For the benefit of my brothers and friends, all the Jewish Nation, I ask that there should be peace within you. For the sake of the house of the Lord, our God, I ask that there should be goodness in you. The Lord will give strength to the Jewish Nation, His people. The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Kaddish Derabanan

Mourners say the following Kaddish. If there are no mourners, the chazzan should say this Kaddish.

May God’s great name be exalted and holy (Amen) — throughout the universe, which He created as He wanted. May He establish His kingdom over the entire universe, bring His redemption, and speed up the coming of His Mashiach, (Amen) — in your lifetime and in your days, and in the lifetime of the entire House of Israel, speedily and soon. And everyone say Amen. (Amen. May God’s great name be blessed forever and ever—it will be blessed.)

On the Children of Israel, on our Rabbis, on their students, on all the students of their students, and on everyone who occupies himself with Torah, whether they are in this place or in any other place—may there be on them and on you much peace, grace, kindness, mercy, long life, much livelihood, and salvation from their Father in heaven.
