<english>as they rose from the earth, so too the wheels would at the same moment ascend toward them, because the spirit of the living creature dwelt in the wheels too. Over the heads of the living creatures there was a shape which seemed as a firmament; it resembled fearsome ice spread above their heads. They remained beneath the firmament with wings set in line and overlapping one another; every creature had two wings to one side, veiling their faces, and two wings toward the opposite side, veiling their bodies. I heard the noise of their wings while they went forth; it was as the roaring noise of many overflowing waters, as the noise of the Almighty when the Torah was given, this was the noise of their utterance as they offered praise to God—as the noise of the encampments of the angels. Yet when they remain motionless, their wings are likewise still and hushed. Whenever the Lord wished to address His prophets, a Voice was perceived from above the firmament that stood over their heads. Upon hearing the Voice, they would remain motionless, halt their wings from stirring, and fall wholly silent. Over the firmament covering their heads, I beheld something like a throne, whose look resembled a sapphire stone. Upon the throne-likeness was a figure having a man's look, from above. I beheld that this man, as it were, resembled the angel Chashmal. It seemed as though there were fire enclosing it on every side; from the look of his loins upward, and from the look of his loins downward, I beheld what seemed fire, with a brilliant radiance encircling it. Like the rainbow's look amid the cloud upon a day of rain, such was the look of the brilliant radiance encircling it; this was the look of the likeness of the Lord's glory, and when I beheld it, I fell upon my face and heard a voice speaking, bringing me the Lord's prophecy. Once I had heard the Lord's prophecy, a wind raised me and bore me back among the remaining Jewish exiles. Behind me I heard a vast, roaring noise—the angels' voices were declaring, "Blessed is the glory of the Lord from wherever its place happens to be, even amid exile while it does not rest within the Holy Temple."</english>

<english>You shall set aside and give to a Levite a tenth of all the yield of your plantings, after which you will set aside a further tenth of the yield, which you shall convey to Jerusalem. Year by year, you shall render the tenths of the yield which the field produced during that year. The second tenth you shall bring before the Lord, your God, in Jerusalem, the site He shall select for His name to dwell. There you shall consume the tithe of grain, of wine, and of oil that is yours. To Jerusalem you shall also bring the firstborn of your herds and your flocks and present them to a Kohen. God bids you to convey the tithe of your yield to Jerusalem so that you may learn from the numerous Torah scholars dwelling there, and so that they may stir you to fear the Lord, your God, always. Should the way to Jerusalem—the site on which the Lord, your God, shall choose to set His Name upon it—prove too long and too distant for you to be able to bear all of the produce you need to bring there, for the Lord, your God, shall bless you with abundance, then, you shall convert this produce into money by selling it. Then bind the silver in your hand, and proceed to Jerusalem, the site that the Lord, your God, shall choose. And in Jerusalem, you shall purchase with that silver whatever your soul may desire of food—cattle, flock, new wine, old wine, or whatever other food or drink your soul may crave. You shall eat what you bought there within Jerusalem in the presence of the Lord, your God, and you shall take joy—you and your household. Do not abandon the Levite who abides in your towns, for he possesses neither a share in the spoils of war nor inheritance of the land along with you; take care to give him the first tithe of your yield as you were commanded to do. There exists an ongoing seven-year cycle, called the “shmittah cycle.” Should you have neglected to give a Levite the tithe of your yield and/or to set apart a tenth for eating in Jerusalem during the shmittah cycle's first and second year, or during the cycle's fourth and fifth year, then at the close of the third year and of the sixth, respectively, you shall bring forth all the tithes of your yield; you may delay no longer. Moreover, during the third and sixth years of the cycle, you shall not convey the second tithe unto Jerusalem for consumption there; rather, you shall leave it</english>
