חַרְבִּי, תּוֹרִישֵׁמוֹ יָדִי: נָשַׁפְתָּ

<english>of the Sea of Reeds, and the watery depths covered them. They fell swiftly into the lowest depths of the sea like a stone. Lord, Your right hand is exceedingly strong. It is arrayed in might. Lord, Your right hand shatters the foe and delivers the Jewish Nation. In Your great majesty, You destroy those who rise up in battle against You or against Your people, the Jewish Nation. As You send Your anger upon Your foes, it consumes them like straw that fire burns. By the blast of wind from Your nostrils, the waters of the sea heaped up, the running streams of water stood upright like a wall, and the deep waters grew solid in the heart of the sea. As the Jewish Nation departed Egypt, Pharaoh, their enemy, declared to the Egyptian army, “I will pursue them, I will overtake them, and I will split the possessions I seize from them and share them out. I will accomplish my heart’s desire by returning them to Egypt. I will draw my sword from its sheath, and I will destroy them with my hand.” Yet when Pharaoh and the Egyptians sought to ruin the Jewish Nation, You blew with Your wind and the sea covered them. They sank swiftly like heavy lead in the powerful waters.</english>

2</hebrew>
<english>Authority to rule as king belongs to the Lord. God governs the nations even should they refuse Him as their King. When the Redemption comes, our saviors—the Jewish leaders—will go up to Mount Zion in Jerusalem to sit in judgment on the people of the mountain of Esau—the non-Jews—for all they have done to us throughout exile. All the nations will then acknowledge that the power to rule as king belongs to the Lord alone. The Lord shall be King over the entire earth. On that day, once the Redemption comes, the Lord will be One, and His name will be One.2</english>

<text>1 This is the first time that God is described in the Torah as “King.” A king’s power is measured by his ability to force change upon his kingdom. This explains why God is described as King only now, after the miracle of the Splitting of the Sea of Reeds—because he had just forced the ultimate change on earth, by transforming water into dry land, thereby revealing Himself as King of the universe.</text>

<text>2 During exile, it seems to us as though God and “His name”—His creations—are two separate and independent entities. When the Redemption arrives, however, we will see revealed Godliness throughout the entire world. We will be able recognize that the only true existence is God Himself, and that His creations (His name) are One with Him.</text>
