In the eighteenth year of his rule, King Josiah resolved to renew the Holy Temple. Amid that renewal, they discovered one of the Torah scrolls penned by Moses and it lay rolled to the passage in the book of Deuteronomy that tells of the punishments that God warned He will visit upon the Jewish Nation should they refuse to follow His ways. King Josiah received this as a caution that the people must return to the Lord. The Haftarah that follows recounts that King Josiah read that same portion of the Torah to the Jewish Nation, and that they repented and purged the Holy Temple of every impure item that earlier wicked kings had set there. It further tells of the king's reminder to the people to present the Pesach-offering in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem."

"english": "<b>King Josiah summoned the elders of Judah and Jerusalem, and they all assembled together before him. The king ascended to the</b> Holy Temple, <b>the house of the Lord, and all the men</b> of standing <b>of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem accompanied him, along with the Kohanim, the prophets, and every person, from small to great.</b> There he read aloud for them to <b>hear every word of the Book of the covenant</b>—the rebuking words inscribed in that portion of the Torah to which the Torah scroll discovered in the <b>house of the Lord was rolled. The king stood upon</b> the appointed <b>dais and confirmed the covenant before the Lord, to walk in the Lord's paths and to keep His commandments, testimonies, and statutes with their whole heart and soul, and to maintain the terms of this covenant, which this book records. The entire nation stood and embraced the covenant</b> with spoken and inward resolve. <b>The king ordered Hilkiah the High Priest, the Kohanim who were second</b> to the high priest, <b>and the guards</b> charged with tending the Temple <b>to clear from the Temple of the Lord all that was made for the</b> worship of Ba'al <b>and Asherah or for</b> the worship of <b>the entire host of the heavens.</b> They fulfilled his command <b>and they burned them beyond Jerusalem, in the Kidron plains, and they bore their ashes to Bethel</b> and there discarded them.",
