<english>Zechariah the prophet recounts the oracle of God unto Jerusalem's people: Behold! A day precious before the Lord draws near, and, upon that day, all your riches which foes have seized from you across the years shall be restored and shared among all who dwell in your midst. Yet, prior to this, I will assemble all the nations against Jerusalem to wage war. The city shall be seized, the houses plundered, and the women violated; half the city shall be driven to go into exile while Jerusalem's remaining Jewish people will be permitted to remain and shall not be severed from the city. Then the Lord will go out and battle those nations, even as on the day He battled the Egyptians, on the day of the battle at the Sea of Reeds. Upon that day, God's feet shall figuratively stand upon the Mount of Olives, which looks toward Jerusalem from the east. The Mount of Olives will cleave through its midst from east toward west so that there shall open a vast great valley. One half of the mountain shall shift northward and one half southward. And you shall escape by this vale among the mountains, seeing that the mountain-valley extends as far as the city of Azal. You shall flee even as you fled on account of the earthquake, amid the days of Uzziah, King of Judah. And the Lord, my God, shall arrive, together with all the holy angels, to remain with you. On that day there shall be confusion; the Jewish Nation will be uncertain whether their salvation or their destruction is approaching, even as when there is no clear light, on the one side, and no heavy, congealing darkness on the other side. This will prove one singular day for the Lord, when His great wonders will be known throughout the world. When it shall be neither daytime nor night—neither a span that is wholly bad for the Jewish Nation nor a span that is wholly good. And, as the world begins to darken like the evening—when the Jewish Nation will be driven into exile—the Lord will go out and battle the nations and bring light to the world. On that day on which the Mount of Olives will cleave, a spring of living waters shall issue from Jerusalem. Half shall stream to the eastern sea and half shall stream to the western sea; it shall flow through the summer and will not freeze up in the winter. Upon that day, the Lord shall be acknowledged as King over all the earth, and on that day, the Lord will be acknowledged as the One and only God over all, and His name shall be the only one uttered. The hills of the entire earth shall level and turn into a plain, beginning at the hill of Rimmon south of Jerusalem and then the remainder of the earth. Jerusalem, however, will not be leveled; it will thus stand higher than every other place on earth. It shall revert to its former location—from the gate of Benjamin unto the site of the first gate—and then its territory will be enlarged as far as the corner gate and from the tower of Hananel as far as the king's wine-cellars. The Jewish Nation shall abide within Jerusalem, the city shall be rebuilt and destruction shall cease; rather, the Jewish Nation shall abide in Jerusalem in safety. And this shall be the plague whereby the Lord will smite every nation who besieged Jerusalem: all of their flesh shall melt while they yet stand upon their feet, their eyes shall melt in their sockets, and their tongues shall melt in their mouths. On that day, the Lord will bring about a great confusion upon the nations. Each one will grasp the hand of the other seeking to aid them, but it will be mistakenly taken as a sign of war and, instead, one nation shall lift its hand in battle against the hand of its fellow. Those remaining of Judah's people shall also battle the enemy in Jerusalem. After the battle, the vast store of wealth of all the surrounding nations shall be collected—the gold, silver, and precious garments. Likewise, there shall be a plague upon the horses, mules, camels, donkeys, and every other animal that will be in those enemy camps, even as this plague that afflicted the enemy. It shall come to pass that all who remain from the other nations who came to wage war against Jerusalem—because they reversed their minds and turned their hearts to God—shall go up yearly to bow themselves before the King of the universe, the Lord of Hosts, and to keep the Festival of Sukkot. Yet, if any among the nations of the earth will not go up unto Jerusalem to fall prostrate before the King of the universe, the Lord of Hosts, the Lord shall cause rain not to fall upon their land in that year and their crops</english>
